A funny story.
When I was 14 years old, I pinched a bud of old school brick Colombian from my brother.

Of course back then it came with seeds. So I stuck em in dirt and with ZERO knowledge I began growing.

Well I wanted to learn so... yes... I shoplifted this book from a bookstore.

You guys are stuck with me now.

And I no longer follow the advice from that book lol.

Funny. Reminds me, my mother caught my first grow when I was 16. She found two plants growing in my closet. They were growing in used motor oil cans that I had cut the top off of. Back in the day those cans were cardboard. I took a several decades long hiatus from growing and then MJ became legal in my state and I bought a book called Growing Elite Marijuana by Ryan Riley. Then I found this place a few years back. Haven't really been anywhere else for grow advice since and rarely read reference the book.

Seems like books on growing get outdated pretty quick. Best way to stay on top of new and relevant info is a dynamic forum like this one. That said i have a couple of books on growing cannabis around here somewhere.

Probably the best books I've read on growing are the series by Jeff Lowenfels "Teaming with Nutrients " Teaming with Microbes " etc. He explains how plants actually work on the cellular level and then expands from there. They aren't cannabis specific but very informative and a fascinating read for anyone who loves plants. Highly recommend them, really helps feeding plants when you understand how they actually take up nutrients.

When I was around 17 I grew a few. Then at the same time I found a handful of sprouts from tossing the seeds in the flower bed out front. They seemed to be around a similar size so assuming the same timeline. I was on a horse farm and kept the pots at the base of the round pens fence posts. My mom found them and said.......I found your plants, they looked dry so I watered them. She always said if I'm going to smoke it I had to grow it so I tested her words. 3 went to good size and flowered, kept them in the bed of a parts truck I had. The horses found them and clear cut what they could reach over the cab. Miss those days for sure.

I think my 1st weed growing info came from a mid '70's High Times mag. ( getting old i know) there was prob. more mis-info than real info. like Pyrokill my 1st grow was from tossing bag seeds into flower pots. pretty sure they got pulled, dried and smoked at the 1st sign of buds.

Yep, looking back I remember them still being white hairs. I got worried about it all and pulled them early it seems now.
