    Defoliate or not

Hi everyone, new old guy with a question. I was wondering when or if I should defoliate this plant? It is a white widow autoflower almost 6 weeks old under a sonlipo SPF2000 running 20 on 4 hours off. It's in a fabric 5 gallon pot with promix potting soil in a 4x4 x82 inch tent.

If it's 6 weeks old it's not an auto flower

Gator is correct. But first, zoomed in on the lower right fan leaves, what is that coloration? Is it a shadow? a couple of yellowing leaves? It isn't the dreaded WPM is it?

Is your plant an autoflower? At 6 weeks with an auto you should be seeing preflowers and pistils (stigmas). One way to tell for sure if it is an auto or not is to change the light schedule to 12/12. The longer dark period will trigger the flowering period. So, should you defoliate? Yes, you want to open up the middle and clear out the bottom. If you can look from the bottom of the foliage to the top of the plant you want to see light, not darkness. If you flip the light schedule and the plant starts to flower after the stretch defoliate again.

My plants are bushy like yours. They will be getting a haircut this weekend.

Learn how to find tiny pre-flowers at the base of each leaf to determine the sex of your plant in the vegetative stage (at only 3-8 weeks from germination)!

by Nebula Haze Week 1-3: Transition to Flowering When growing marijuana indoors, the flowering stage begins when you change your grow lights to a 12/12 light cycle (12 hours light, 12 hours darkness each day). Getting those 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness each day gives your plant the signal that it’s time to start flowering....

Controversial defoliation can increase your yields dramatically indoors... but removing leaves is for advanced growers only! When done wrong, defoliation can kill your plants!

Thanks all for your help. I had trouble germinating all of the seeds but 1 and it looked kinda lame lol. I contacted CKS and they have since replaced them. I was going to yank the little girl but she started to look a little better. The attached photo is from Feb.4th. I will try to remove some fan leaves to thin it out a bit and see what happens. Sorry I am a little tech challenged.

Yes, Dave001 if it were me I'd clip those lower fans that are in the dirt. Can you give us a little info on grow experience? I wouldn't want to insult you.

Don't worry about being tech challenged, everyone has been at some point in their life. You've come to the right place. There are a lot of good folks on the forum. Sirius and Nebula have put together the best site for growing weed on the web, IMHO.

If you want to turn someone's name blue as ductwizard2 has commented about, type their name case specific after the ampersand @ sign. That will highlight their name in the comments. The name won't turn blue when you are replying to a comment, but it shows blue when the post comes up. The name will turn blue when you type it if you are doing so at the start of a thread or making a comment outside of a reply. Is that about as clear as mud?

Don't remove too much, take the leaves that are touching the soil first and then give her a week to recover, also, on your next round fill the pot with soil, staying within an inch or two from the rim, you haven't given her much room to grow roots

hey Dave001, sorry dont know how to make your name show up in blue. welcome to the old man tech- challenged part of GWE. your " kinda lame" start put my last start to shame.. never had a young plant start off bushy. I say let it grow and see what happens as long as its not costing you anything and you have the room why not?

Hey ductwizard2. To make them blue and to notify them you commented, just put an @ infront of there name like i did with yours.
