    Too early for harvest?

I’m a new grower and would like opinions on if this is ready to harvest or not. I read the harvesting article and am still not sure if it’s too early or not. Also, I don’t know what kind this is. Thank you!

Grab a jewelers loupe and look at the trichomes. Absent a way to examine the trichomes look at the pistils. When the majority are orange and curled in you may be in the harvest window, but the trichomes will tell you for sure.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. It has a lot of orange brown pistils but many are also whitish still but have curled inward. I know it sounds stupid but I’m having a hard time telling if the trichomes are white/milky or still on the glassy side.

I hear ya. Try to wait until you see some amber in the trichomes. When you see amber you will know it. Also, look on the buds themselves and not just the sugar leaves. I have the same issues, trying to determine when the trichomes are ready is a moving target IMHO. But practice makes perfect. If you don't get it right this time do it again, and again after that. LOL!

You've got some really good, healthy looking plants and if you harvested now you'd have some decent bud. That being said, if you can wait like 3 more weeks and those buds will fatten and firm up by at least 30%. Great job so far.

Thanks, I don’t mind waiting a little longer.

Keep em going if the humidity is not too high. Over 60%RH will be dangerous for mold developing in the buds.

Nice looking grow too. Well done

Thanks! It’s still pretty dry out but rain will be coming soon.

If you don’t have a loupe or microscope, a smart phone with a decent camera can be used with some success.
Take a close up photo with full zoom and a steady hand, then zoom into the picture to see a super close up.
That being said It looks like you have sometime to go to me as well, patience is an important skill for growers.

Keep the flowers dry. Don't spray anything on them and dont let it rain on them.

Mold in flowers is common in outdoor grows, and often the norm if growing close to the coast as humidity is often highest there. The larger the flower the more susceptible it is.

A strong breeze will help keep moisture levels down inside the flower so a fan helps and a clear roof over the top to keep them dry coming into late flower will help.
