For the past 5 or 6 years I've been trying different methods of making pain reliving balms with varying results. I have an adult daughter who when she was 18 had a massive brain hemorrhage that left her paralyzed on her left side. She has severe muscle spasticity in her arm and leg and the balms seem to do a good job of relaxing them. Recently I found a new method that I think I'm going to stick with because of its ease of making and outstanding results, so I thought I would share it with the forum. The matrix is just simple cosmetic coconut oil cream. I start by decarboxylating about 3 grams of pure dry sift kief in the oven on some parchment paper at 250 for 15 minutes. When it cools it's a little clumpy so in a small ceramic bowl I use the back of a spoon to bring it back to a powder. Then I just add it to about 8 to 10 ounces of the coconut cream. I found that if I put in a small amount of eucalyptus oil it speeds up the transdermal absorption process. Stir it all up really well and it's done. Can't get much simpler than that and not nearly the mess of having to deal with heating the oil, straining thru cheese cloth, and the burned fingers. Just thought I'd share -

That is sad about your daughter, but it's great that you can help with something you can grow make and provide yourself. Very simple method indeed, thanks for sharing it.

That’s sounds like a great easy process, thx for sharing. I’ve bought some in the past that works for just usual aches and pains, but as you said it’s very expensive to use regularly.
What strains have you been using crucialbunny ?
I once listened to a Woman who owned a topical company give an interview. She was a scientist by training with a couple PHDs and she was adamant about using full spectrum, with something like a 1:1 THC / CBD. Her thoughts were the both were necessary for the best resultsKIS mix organic living soil from Black Sallow soils in 7gal. pots
Black Swallow Organic Bloom mix top dress before flower.
Reusing soil with Black Swallow nutrient pack between grows
Maybe some compost teas
Blumat watering system
Microbial Mass and other microbial boosters(Wallace)
3x4x6’ tent
Photontek 465wpro
6” AC Infinity outdoor air in and out, humidifier, dehumidifier, heater, oscillating fan.

Personal questions, CB.
Is it your intent to, or is it an acceptable side effect that the tincture will get your daughter high? Or does it? Also, are you talking about CBD or THC tincture?
I use Lidocaine patches for bone spurs, tendonitis, and bursitis and have wondered about putting tincture on one to see if it helps more with pain and if it gets me high. The one time I tried a store-bought balm like you describe, it did nothing for me. I've tried too many store-bought dope products that don't do anything medicinal or recreational.

So, the answer to my long-standing internal question about balm getting you high is, no?
Please forgive my ignorance. It wasn't until this forum I knew you had to decarb weed to make it edible for making cannabutter. I ate a lot of buttered toast that did nothing but give me an upset stomach.

DabberDog You make a very interesting point about decarbing because that is a process of making the THCA psychoactive by losing the A at the end of the molecule strand. It made me wonder why I had to decarb if I wasn't needing it to be psychoactive. Turns out that our skin contains receptors and if you don't remove the acid molecule it can't bond to those receptors. I wish I had paid more attention in chemistry class.

I use a mixture of all my strains to make that amount of kief. I collect a lot of trim come harvest and I have friends that donate theirs. I dry it and run it through a 50 micron screen. Last season I managed over 60 grams. I know very little about CBD so I can't speak for the benefits. My daughter used to buy CBD oils and the results left a lo to be desired in her opinion.

crucialbunny If THC (sans A) gets in your blood, you get high. Non-cannabis transdermal patches and medicated creams are designed to deliver medicine to your blood. My thought about putting a topical on a Lidocaine patch was to use the patch as the method of delivery. I don't know from the MCT oil and whatnot as being absorbed into the bloodstream. Never looked into it. Not into smearing oil on myself. Just a thing.
But I know about patches and OTC pain rubs. But I don't know if there is a contraindication between THC/CBD and whatever the delivery method is using. Get it?
After a mid-post googling, 'THC-nanocarrier' is the word for the day. I'm not going to explain anything because there are different sources y'all are going to trust or not. But you should get the gist. Look it up.
