    Plain water pH

We pH water because plants absorbe nutrients at different levels, yeah?
I'm at the end of grow and suddenly lazy about mixing nutrients. If giving plain water to coco, is it important to adjust pH?
    I'm not flushing. Just lazy.

If I don't care about nutrient uptake, why adjust pH?

    #3
You may not care but the cultivar will still uptake any neutrient within that ph range even if it's at 7+ or 5-. In that not correct?

I am going by charts and what I read. Yes, they will pick up something. Buuuttt... I don't care about nutrient uptake. The way I'm going to do things, harvesting is going to take a couple days. I don't care if they're eating in that time. Maybe I'm answering my own question. If I don't care about nutrient uptake in the last little bit and all I want to do is keep them from drying out, a couple days of unpH'd water won't mean cats or dogs.
But I had a flash in the shower, as so often happens. I give straight tap water for the first weekish to get my seedlings going. They don't seem to care.

I like the way you take charge of a situation when naked, alone and in the shower. You ever thought about taking up politics.

You said naked and alone, not me.
I am way too angry and intolerant for politics. As accepted as those traits are for politics, traits that make me ineligible are compassion, honesty, and reason. I would throw those who didn't vote for me to the lions and be paranoid the people who worked for me were trying to go Caesar on me on the way to the forum. My slogan would be, 'You don't like it, go fuck y'self. I'm the MUFWIC.'
          Not this forum. The senate.

PH or not you can use compassion, honesty and reason and be in politics you just have to be deceitful about or your constituents wont trust you. You wont get invited to the Epstein island either.

It depends on what your calling the end of the grow? 2 weeks they will still take up some nutrients mostly P&K think but I wouldn't over do it because I think it does matter. If you want to find out, the next DWC grow you do measure the PPM when you you fill the bucket and then measure again when you top it off. If they took in X amount of water and the PPM drops proportionately you can guess they are still eating, I do anyway. Then if you want to get a little geeky you can add individual nutes and supplements 2 days at time and see what happens. Over the top geeky you can buy N,P,& K meters and check the sap. Actually I use a PH meter for sap and check the sap and that tells me whats too much or not enough of something. I guess it just depends on how far you want to go down that rabbit hole

                End of grow is now.
I have it in me not to let a plant dry out. Any plant. These typically get half a gallon a day. If it takes me three days to hang, I don't want the plant to dry in the meantime. But I want to save the little time and money by stopping nutrients. Water is all they need.
Don't ask me why. Don't try to change me. I don't know and am too set in my ways to consider doing otherwise.

I get exactly what you mean Dabber.

Just my 2 cents worth here, so I could get shot down by the experts.

But I love shortcuts, as long as they don't drastically affect the outcome. When I first started this hobby, I would do everything as close to "the book" as I could. However, some years down the track, I often find myself questioning some of the suggested optimums, in some situations, experimenting with NOT following the ideals and seeing for myself if there is a significant difference, if any at all.

One example springs to mind: Defoliate or not to defoliate?

But some will say it's science, right? And, some would say I'm just lazy, tired, whatever, who cares , but at times, I'm just over it, and a willingness to try something out of the ordinary has always been me .

I have been told that a flush does not mean NO food at all, and that I should still run CalMag till the end, (DWC), which I do, and to be honest, I haven't noticed a difference in the end product, I just do it coz I heard it somewhere .

I reckon the best way to find out is to try experimenting, possibly a side-by-side grow with one plant as the experiment and the other to "the book", and one would think the outcome would give you the real answer?

But then I suppose someone's gonna say, "there are too many variables".

                Phew!!!!! what to do aye???

Why adjust indeed. I think you're correct dawg...you've answered your own Q...which is not a bad thing...the process of elimination or something like that. My understanding is MJ will use whatever nutrients it can find to build the best version of itself that it can. Maybe PH doesn't matter at that stage because the plant will take up the water regardless. And , they are ready to harvest...so there is no aftershock. I'd say with 4 to 1 odds you have options.

Just to keep things wet for a couple days, I'm giving plain tap water. If I lose a tenth of a percent of something, I won't know.
I with you about defoliation Geeza. I've been plucking one plant and leaving another a lot more unplucked. I do not see a difference in the buds or colas.
