Afghan landrace, can't find it in any seed bank

This strain can't be found in any seed bank, Afghan landrace, breeders please help , last year I was given seeds of a Afghan landrace strain called Tashakor, they were sent to me from a guy who was in the military during the war in Afghanistan, the seeds were given to him by a village elder when his unit liberated his village, I've lost contact with him and I only have a few more seeds so I want to make some seeds,I have no idea how to do it and I would really like to get some advice on how to get started

Difficult to find, unless you believe the Spanish seed sellers, lots of different varieties. The Russian invasion of Afghanistan wasn't a great move for that strain.

Is an Afgan landrace strain still an Afgan landrace strain if it's been grown and seeded every season for the past 30 years in California?

      Probably not.

I don't know if the seeds are the original ones that he got in Afghanistan, obviously the cross isn't, but I do know that I want to be able to keep the genetics

Genetics change every time its bred. The changes reflect its environment. That was my earlier point I was making.

If you just want regular seed, let a male do his thing, if you want feminized seed look into Colloidal Silver, STS and other stuff that will irritate the female and force her into producing pollen. Outside you would have the chance of someone elses male donating its pollen to your project, good luck.

Take a look at these links
1.) Collect pollen when sacs crack 2.) Pollinate female 2-3 weeks into flowering stage 3.) Collect seeds ~6 weeks later. Read the article for pics and more info!

Ever wondered how those marijuana seed banks make feminized seeds? Learn how to create your own feminized seeds at home using two female plants!

There are two main methods to create your own feminized cannabis seeds: the colloidal silver spray method or using rodelization.

I've done my best to keep the genetics going from what I first grew outdoors over 35 years ago but its difficult to maintain without contamination. I cannot say with total confidence it's a definite landrace but it does appear to be. My seeds are approaching between 5 and 10 year old (I have a few batches and also a couple of crosses) and the viability has dropped right off. Additionally, Mrs. Bluey decided to put all seeds in one container as all the containers were taking up too much room and now I don't know what is germinating until it grows out to maturity. Once mature though I can tell what's what although I did pop one last grow and have no idea what it was. I haven't smoked that strain yet, cured for 6 months now.

The other issue I have with it is that not long after I started growing these, others brought to market the likes of skunk and Buddha sticks & white widow and all sorts of stuff that was double the THC and maybe nowdays triple the strength in THC.

Some of us my age love the old skool stuff, a few prefer the newer stuff but the young crowd nowdays wouldn't even look at the stuff I've been growing, just not strong enough.

The effects of this landrace are quite different to anything else I have grown the last few years in a few areas. Spacial awareness and judgement of time & distance becomes a real problem, my balance is also effected. I've never fallen over but the new strains I've grown don't effect me that way at all even though much stronger in THC. Also a more out of body experience and perhaps less self awareness whereas the newer stuff is a stronger inner body experience and tends to be a more self aware experience. The best old sativa jar I've harvested recently was very much an outer body experience. I called that the God jar.

Anyway that's just my experience and effects are quite different for everybody.

This is an interesting discussion. I’m interested in landrace cultivars as well. But have kind of come to the same conclusion as Bluey. Once the seed is grown outside its native area is it really a landrace seed? IDK for sure but I want to find out. I do know that trying to find so-called landrace seeds for sale is proving to be like finding hens teeth. And no, I’m not trusting any Spanish seed sellers. (Nothing against Spaniards)

Take a look at the real seed co.. They claim to have land race seeds from all over with several Afghan landrace's. Haven't ordered from them personally but a friend has with no problems.
