are these two plants dying, and should be harvested now?
the menu says when no green leaves are left. There are green leaves, but not fan leaves, only “bud” leaves are green and only a few of those are completely green.
edit; the real question is will these plants continue maturing with the greenery they have left or is that over and the quality just going to get worse from here without healthy fan leaves? Trichomes are white with some turning brown but there are still some white pistils. That is the only reason I am waiting.

I went ahead and hung these 2 up to dry. I haven’t had a reference plant to go by (a healthy plant with green fan leaves at this stage of flowering). So I didn’t know how fast or slow a healthy plant matures. I just knew that these two were taking a long time. That and the stems were yellowish, fan leaves gone, and most bud leaves were only half green, and I figured it was better safe than sorry. I suspect that a few days from maximum potency doesn’t make much difference anyway. If anyone knows better please enlighten me.

I just want to check to see if I am interpreting this correctly.
when I first put hygrometers in my jars the RH was 32%. With the moisture packs it is getting to the low 50’s.
My best guess is that I let it dry too long.
Am I correct that the relative humidity be around 55% in the jar from just the buds?

32 is pretty low,I try to keep my jars between 58-60, anything lower than 55 you loose terps

I dried these for 6 days and I’m thinking that 3 would be my next try. I have hygrometers now so I can find out. How many days do you dry your plants to have buds at 58-60% RH?

      #64
You massively overdried and probably too fast also..

Aim for 63% in the jars for joints. I go a bit lower when I'm just vaping, say 58..but no lower.

To double check; Are the figures you gave (e.g. 63% for joints) for just the buds by themselves, no moisture packs?
        And, thank you.

When I jar them I do not use any moisture or humidity packs, only the buds go in the jars and hygrometers. Once jars are stable at 63% or lower measured during the curing & burping process the hygrometers get swapped to other jars to ensure all jars are stable at a safe level.

I have never gotten mold in my jars even as high as 65% but that's risky. I tend to keep temps under 20⁰C during the cure and once curing is finished store them lower again. Treat the jars like a fine bottle of wine for best results but don't try drinking the buds.

How long do you leave the lids off when burping?

I couldn’t find under the hamburger what the exact purpose of burping is, so I don’t have a clue. That is; is the purpose just to exchange the air at the top of the container, or is it to exchange the air around each individual bud? If the former, a quick remove and replace is fine. If the latter, it would be necessary to dump the contents and reload each time.

How do you know when curing is finished?
Does the humidity of the buds drop to a “finished”%?
Edit; I found online that it is good to store cannabis at 59-63%. That is surprising to me that it will stay lit there.

Give it time. Burp every day for at least a couple of weeks yhen drop it back to two/three times a week then once a week and your done. They say no benefit going past 6 months. Its normally quite good after a few weeks.

I have a question about pot weight. That is: what is a reasonable weight per gallon of potting soil that says that below this weight the plant needs water, and the weight above which the plant does not need water. In other words I need to calibrate myself.
I got myself out of whack trying not to over-water and get the pots light and I feel like I’m way to the light side. I haven’t weighed the pots because I don’t have a scale but I feel sure that these 3 gallon pots are easily less than a 5 pound bag of sugar. And I looked up potting soil weight and for moist potting soil 3 gallons should weigh 30-35 pounds. (3 gallons of water weighs 24.6 pounds.)
What got me to thinking was after a recent repotting, and before watering, the newly repotted plant is much heavier than my plants after watering.
Would one of you please weigh your fabric pot after watering (before and after is even better). I would appreciate it very much.

The issue I see with that is each mix of soil has a different weight depending on what it is made up of. Add perlite and the weight goes down, got clay in there its heavier. Best I can say is weigh it after watering, then let it dry a few days and weigh it again.

I’m only looking for a broad range of weight. For example; should a 3 gallon pot weigh 25-40 pounds, or 5-25? And does a plant lose (a lot of) weight as the potting soil is used up?

You'll have to weigh things up as you go. The coco from last grow has been drying on my balcony since last harvest and weighs significantly less than the stuff I still have in the bag from this grow. I can't tell you what my coco weighs until I put it in the pot. I can't tell you what wet coco weighs until I wet my coco.

My 150 gallon pots are hard to weigh.

I can see keeping a constant weight going to know when 1 pound of water has evaporated from the soil so another pound can be put in. But it seems like a major pain in the ass.
Figure, too, your plant will gain weight.
A little secret, just between us, don't tell anyone... I have a probe I use if I can't tell by weight. Usually, I get that out when the plants are going on flowering and get top heavier.
        C'mon, mule!
