    HELP! Need help diagnosing

    Hi,

This is my first grow. I'm growing indoors in soil in a grow tent setup. These plants are roughly ~25 days old and I've noticed this discoloration on only the lower leaves, I've tried to look through the plant problems guide but as I'm colorblind its a tad hard for me to properly distinguish. Appreciate any help

I think this might be due to my overwatering as I can now see what looks like fungus gnats on the top soil

It seems like you have a drainage issue. Plants like lots of fresh water to oxygenate their roots, otherwise they languish instead of thrive. I don't see anything in your soil like perlite or coarse sand to help facilitate drainage.

is it too late to repot with some perlite?

It probably couldn't hurt to try. Doesn't look like its not gonna do much otherwise. It's been my experience that with proper drainage it's hard to over water.

With the possible exception of something creeping up on the 3-finger in the back of the third picture, the rest of the plant looks good. A happy 3-1/2 week old. Even the cotyledons are happy. Wouldn't wet soil show more on the rest of the plant?
Could this be a fungus/mold/growth sort of thing from wet soil instead of overwatering and/or nutrient issues?
Before you repot growreya what is your medium? Might be you need something in addition to perlite.
No need to quote what you're talking about. We're drug addicts but we follow along pretty well. You can also do what I did with your handle and put a @ in front if you want to get someone's attention.

I think it is both an overwatering and lack of drainage issue. I would remove the damaged leaves and re-pot with pearlite in a larger container with drainage holes. I have found our plants to be rather resilient when transplanting or re-potting.

My potting medium is potting compost. I've recently installed a circulation fan to blow some extra air over the top of the soil to deter the fungus gnats and I'll look to repot with some perlite.

@Gingerbeard those spots on the picture are just little spots on the leaf

I'd transplant into a larger pot. The longer the grow the larger the pot when it comes to soil. Also worth checking your pH. Re fungus gnats, they will eat the roots in the top of your pot but normally don't do much harm but they are a good sign of too wet a medium and perhaps overwatering and/orvlack of drainage.

Okay, I have re-potted these in a larger container (20L) and mixed through some perlite. Drainage seems much better (Dont know why I missed this originally ).

I've included some pictures for reference, On some of the top leaves it looks like these might have some light burn from the light being too close which I have now moved a bit further away. (20" with a SF1000 light)

Just to add these are Runtz Autoflowers from FastBuds

I've trimmed off some of the more affected leaves that were at the bottom.

Some of the other ones are showing signs too, should I remove these as well?
And as I've repotted should I look to feed these with nutrients? Or let them settle in first?

Let them get through their transplant shock and recover. You have new fresh nute packed soil so I'd guess maybe 3 to 4 weeks before adding nutes. You just have to watch them closely and they will tell you when

Suggestion; add more soil around the stem to help support it while it grows. It would be a shame to have a nice plant fall over and break off!

Perlite is very important it helps with drainage and also holds nutrients. My first grow I had the same problem. add perlite .next time use a least 30 % perlite if she doesn't drain the roots will rot goodluck and your girls will be fine just take it easy with the watering from now on goodluck.

If you have fungus gnats, you are watering too often. Let the top of the soil dry out before each watering.

Just to give an update on this, plants are looking a lot bushier now and drainage is much better. I've attached a good few pictures.

The leaves that look quite dry and curled should I look to trim these off? This is what I've been doing for previous leaves that looked like this.

There are also some other discolorations on some of the newer leaves both on the top of the plant and underneath, not sure what this might be

Your pots should be filled with soil.

Those brown tips are probably as a result of too hot soil but it's not bad Si zid leave it but watch it closely to see if it advances
