Girl Scout Cookie outdoors in living soil that just recently began flower and went immediately
into foxtail mode. GSCookies for me have always been finicky but this is something totally new.
My only thought is that recent heat here in SoCal might be the cause, but none of my other
plants are showing any problems. Other than the foxtailing the plant seems just fine albeit kind
of thick cabbaging leaves. I've used no added nutrients. Y'all think the buds will develop okay or
is it destined to be a freakish mess? Any insights would be appreciated.

The stifling heat out west lately is probably your issue. Genetics or genetic fox tailing is the other reason for this and there is good and bad fox tailing also. I would think the OG kush and Durban poison would love the heat but without the high humidity it might be to much stress, my 2 cents.

I lived in So Cal for years, are you talking San Diego or Borrego Springs?

I live near LA harbor. The balcony I grow on faces south so they have full sun all day and the side of my home reflects the rays and it can get brutally hot. My Wedding Cake, GG4, Vanilla Frosting, and some bag seed plants aren't having issues. I have a retractable awning that I use on the really hot afternoons.

Those smooth edge leaves and the foxtail remind me of a reveg, is that possible? Did they flower and then the light schedule or location change at all

I lived in San Pedro back in the 80's when I worked for McDonnell Douglas, I was up on a hill from the harbor but it did get hot there even with the ocean breeze.

Those buds are opening their calyx and shooting out pistols which is a good sign.

Not sure I can actually spot the foxtail but likely too much light and/or heat and certainly genetics.

My sativas I have are prone to foxtailing late in a flowers development but it's the good foxtailing. I didn't think it would happen on my last grow I harvested 10 days ago with PPFD between 500 & low 800's on the tops of the biggest buds and day time temps of 22⁰C, but it did on a few of them, very minor but still happened even on one ir two low light colas. It only happened on the main top colas.
