    3 Days of Darkness

    Good morning,

I'm about to harvest (4) different strains .... Amnesia Haze, Serious Black, Northern Lights and Bruce Banner. I had some issues with delayed growth, I think due to defoliating (in the flower stage) too early.
Anyway, the girls have lost most of their leaves but the flowers are looking good....it's coming up on 10 weeks and they appear (under loupe inspection) to be ready ... two of four girls are slightly showing amber colors.... the other two are showing milky tri's ...
My question: Should I do (3) days of darkness prior to harvesting them? Or should I do a molasses fortified watering?

Any help is very much appreciated.

    Regards,
    JKP

Both of those concepts are examples of what are considered by many to be "Bro Science" and have no basis in scientific fact. Three days of darkness is supposed to somehow rid your plants of toxins that you have been feeding it. That's just physically impossible. Once something is in a plant cell it can't be magically shed. Molasses cannot be absorbed by plants but is great for feeding the microbes and bacteria that break down soil nutrients to be taken in by plants and is best used throughout growth and not just the end. The cannabis growers field is filled with many different "weird science" ideas and I find them perpetuated on websites that claim to be experts when in truth they just read it somewhere and accepted it as cannabis gospel. Neither the darkness nor the molasses is harmful to your plants, just unnecessary. Good luck with your harvest.

It has been suggested that molasses increases the mass of buds simply by absorbing the sugars from the molasses at the roots and depositing those sugars in the flowers. That sounds pretty bro science to me but if that's correct you should be sucking on your buds instead of smoking them.

I know of a few that harvest by pulling the plant and dropping the roots in a bucket of sugar water. I doubt this would do anything but get the roots wet.

Some bud photos to enjoy!! I think the order is Bruce Banner, Northern Lights, Anesia Haze and Serious Black. I'll give additional feedback in a few weeks!
