The secret to decarbing shatter is time. t'aint like decarbing weed where you watch the time. Decarbing shatter is all about waiting for the bubbles to stop and the shatter to clarify. Using a glass bowl is the best because you can watch the bubbling and clarity without opening the oven. The last gram I did took a little over an hour at 240°. This time I did 2 grams, and it took better than an hour and a half.

Great thread ! Soo much info for someone who is just getting started but it also seems like a lot of time, effort and weed for such little results. I realize i would need less to get to happy time but i Think maybe i need wAit until i find a friend who can show and help me get started, show being the point. In time most of us have more product than we consume so the return becomes less significant, it’s hard to take at first.
Many people ( myself included) are just using their trim for concentrates so that’s normally a waste product anyway. That’s generally the bonus, you get hash from what normally went in the trash.
There are a tonne of hash making video out there to watch and learn from. It’s is some work for sure, especially ice water hash. It’s all about the end product for us hash lovers

Since Covid and the nascent internet phenomenon, in person meet-ups are not as popular. Too many people hiding behind videos.
If a hash group would be neat in your area, start one. The hardest part is finding people to come out of the prohibition closet.
And you might find there are classes and such in legal states. Some colleges are even offering classes.Open to suggestions.Comment

I might have put 2 and 2 together... or... if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
If humidity is too high for a good bud drying and the buds stay soft even after a few weeks, dry sift is super inefficient.
When humidity is high, make ice water hash! Solved that problem!! BAM!!!Open to suggestions.Comment

Desiccation means removing water. You should be using low water content alcohol. If you are doing that there should be no or very little water in it when finished. Water can be removed by evaporation by heat or vacuum, or both if you are so inclined. If you over heat it the THC will eventually start to break down. A vacuum chamber will avoid deterioration. Freezing it would make it more viscous, but the dry part is the same that you would get from a vacuum chamber. Once it warmed up it would return to the previous state. I think you are attempting to "dry out" an oil. RSO is TCH, waxes, and other miscellaneous material from the plant, all non-polar materials. I think if you added some dry sift kief and worked it together the result would become thicker and more like what you are trying to make. Are you trying to make moon rocks? I'm not totally familiar with that product, I was under the impression that they were oil extract mixed with dry bud material.
