I scored some Everclear* so have been reading instructions for making sublingual tincture. One thing I read a lot was how it burns, that people can't stand the taste and other bad things. I started with tincture from the dispensary back when and that didn't burn at all. Maybe it was glycerine based but I don't remember it being sweet either so, I got no idea... But as a used-to-be moonshiner I'd never drink 190 proof, I've seen what it does to your hands. I was wondering if after it's made why don't people just dilute it. I've no problem with barrel proof (130-145). I googled for reducing alcohol burn and, other than chasers which I don't think really works with sublingual, I read these ideas for drinking high proof alcohol: Using it freezing cold, consuming with salt (as with tequila) and dilution.
It's there any reason not to dilute alcohol tincture? Orange flavored from the dispensary was my favorite. Maybe mix three tinc to two flavor...
Do you have something you do to deal with the burn? I'm hoping you do and you'll share.
* I've read that Everclear is illegal in NY State but the Everclear web site lists plenty places including the store I got it from. Maybe it was illegal but that was lifted for use as a covid sanitizer? So maybe if you couldn't get it before maybe you can now.
