Black Trichomes, what does that mean??

I have been watching the trichomes on one of my plants, waiting for amber to show up more. But I'm seeing black trichomes, does that mean they are dying??

Have a pic? Are you sure it's black? I've seen dark purple that could look black without proper zoom

Green is right those are not the tricomes you base your harvest on. But indeed they look a bit weird. Usually the color also affects the "body" of the tricomes. Not just the head. Get your hands on a microscope and figure this out. Now I'm curios

That pic was taken with a microscope.

That's fascinating: I've never seen that before. I looked it up and saw pics of lots of purple trichomes, but nothing that looks like yours. I am very interested to know what it is...

Only look at tricomes on the calyx...not sugar leaves

Yeah, but what does it mean when you see this? I try to look at the calyx, kinda hard to see past the sugar leaves sometimes.

I hope someone knows the answer to this one because I would like to know also.

what I have learned so far:
                environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

I'll ask it: are you sure it is the resin ball that is black and not Thrips poo stuck on resin ball?

Dark tricomes on sugar leaves don't mean anything...some will change just due to light exposure over time...they grow on sugar leaves and dry up faster...tricomes on calyx gets moisture from calyx.. (bud)...that's where they grow and originate...spread from there like a sickness...( a good one tho )
