What do I use for mixing for making bubble hash?

Hello: I would like to know what others use to agitate the bud/ice/water mixture when making bubble hash. I used a paint mixer on an electric drill and I ended up with a lot of green stuff. It is smokeable but doesn't press so easily. How hard should I agitate or mix and what are others using for the mixing task. Thanks.

What micron bag are you using? Anything over 120 isn't hash. Plus the electric drill is way overkill. You making hash or soup.

I've seen people use drills, in videos. They use a paint mixer attachment on a variable speed drill. 5 gallon bags, I think they used. The one time I've made ice hash, in a 1 gallon, with a wooden spoon for agitation, I can see using a drill for a larger bag.

Thanks Gingerbeard. I saw people in videos using paint mixers, that's why I tried it. I might have gone too fast. To answer Going2fast, I have a set of 3 bags: 220-75--25
I'll try the wooden spoon. Thanks to you both for your input.

Iv used a paint mixers stick before, best if you put it in a multi speed drill/driver on the lowest speed settings with the highs torque. Most the time just using the stick by hand is enough if you have the stamina to poke, stir and twist for 5 to 15 minutes.

These days I use a portable washing machine.

I’ve move away from the drill until later washes . The first 1-3 washes I usually use just hand mix for 3-4 mins a few minutes longer each time. Stir gently .

Thanks Smallgrow. You have a nice amount of hash there. I think I might have agitated too violently.

You can see the colour change as the number of washes increases, once it’s starts to be green and not more tan it’s too contaminated with plant matter. This can happen even in the first wash if you agitated too hard.
      ….been there done that 😁

I prefer wooden spoon by hand for best results but it can feel like you’re doing it forever. I’ve tried the drill method but you get too much leaf making green hash

Since it's not about chopping the weed, how about dulling the edges of a paint mixer? Bend the edges. Something to beat the buds about since they should already be chopped.

Good point thanks. My paint mixer is plastic and has really thick blades sort of like a paddle on a paddle wheel boat so not really an issue

General thought is for the best quality you don't want to be really aggressive. My cousin made some and it looked like lawn clippings made into a smoothie. He did the drill and paint mixer method. I stick to dry ice. Much easier. No worries about mold. Easier to burn or vape.

I wanted to do the dry ice method because it sounds easier and cleaner but unbelievably dry ice is not sold where I live (small city of 17000 people). I even tried Walmart. So i had to go with the ice method.
