Smelled it a few days ago and today confirmed I smelled the oft' broken major sewer line out of TJ. Still spilling off our coast and will for at least a week. I am approximately 5 miles away.
Geographically, the elevation of my building is the highest in my city. I am 1-1/2 miles from the beach. The area about 3/4 miles, and 160° to my west is covered by a gale warning that will bring 8'-20' waves, depending on the forecast you look at. That means we will have flooding in that covered area.
Goddamn if we aren't going to be having our city covered in TJ sewage! Houses are going to be flooded with it. Cars. Gravel yards. Lots of damage on the way. If the waves are on the higher end of the predictions, our pier will be erased.
I might have a helluva view in a couple days!

You know what I hate............the basic lack of simple math skills of today's teens/20 something's. Yesterday I was buying oil and a filter for a John Deere diesel at a local big name auto parts establishment. Young man and young lady at the counter. Age about twenty I would guess. Older manager instructs young man to ring me up for 3 gallons of oil at 27 dollars a gallon and a 20 dollar filter. Manager walks in the back and the young man rings me up and says that will be 283 dollars........ I say excuse me. He says with a straight face again 283 dollars.
the fact that I had to explain to them that the math was wrong in this instance on top of the fact that both of them proceeded to take out their phone and open the calculator to check...............this next generation is truly doomed.

Blowdout2269 Calling the stuff they put in everything capital F Fentanyl instead of 'a substrate of fentanyl or illicit fentanyl' is false, misleading and harmful to anyone truly needing pain mgmt, like a woman after a hysterectomy, or someone at the VA. That 'pinpoint of fentanyl killing you' talking point is laughable if you have ever been prescribed it legitimately. Personally, if it were real I could handle it but many couldn't or wouldn't like that and I'm 99.9% it's not real so no known strength/dose. The percentage of 6 year olds testing + for opiates is one of the worst things I learned in the past 24 hours. Any street canna-products are questionable here, if you've bought legal dispensary already. Would you buy cheap/street wax not knowing if it was BHO and their processing? I've seen packaging for carts that are so bogus I wouldn't vape them. Non-dispo weed here is safe but not quite as good, same strains. Those stores (the video) are questionable to me. We had a 24-hr BP station get sold and it still sits vacant because the guy was selling bath salts, years ago. I've watched under the counter selling of something palmed at another BP station in the next town. I guess it's that I wouldn't have bought them myself so it's harder to say. You know what I hate. buttons on the side of the remote controls or the freakin cell phones! I cant pick either up without turning the volume up, down or mute. My oldest just gave me this new roku tv, kinda nice yet lacking. I also hate fees for free stuff, I found folks saying that roku charges them $1 each month. OK it wont break the bank, but is it free or not!

Rwise Same here with those dang buttons. I end many incoming calls on accident. Been using Rokus since they where new, never been charged a cent. I have probably 6 or 7 different models, most are outdated now. I have 2 smart TVs and a couple small TVs that might get used so I saved a couple newer stick Rokus. Living in the IL River Valley, my town is on the River, I have checked the most expensive flat antennae and could only maybe receive 1 religious channel. Comcast monopoly here for reliable, 'affordable' is relative. I was going over 2 days before my billing period ended, got zapped $50 bc they only sell data in big chunks that don't carry over. I stream, then I pause it, save recordings, and use another streamer to save $ for a few months then go back and catch up. Such a racket. I'd be happy to go back to 1980. Basic local channels, Chicago's WGN and HBO, etc. My landline phone bill was under $10/month, TV cable was similar, water bill was $10, it's ~ $75 min. now, for one person.

Dont get me started on the water, my minimum is 1000 galls for $26.xx, but the damn sewer is $50.50 minimum, and nothing else included.
I miss the good old analog signals, I could in bad weather point my beam at OKC and get weather for my area, which tulsa does not cover. Nothing west of the river exists. Digital fades out before it gets here, so there was snow, now IF I can get a signal I still cant get info for my area, unless I use the PC/internet.
I may look at the roku stuff, my oldest said she has never had a bill either.
