    I'm in hot water.

Seriously.. nube here... is it a cold hard fact that I will have to buy an expensive chiller ? I've been using ice bottles and staying in range . Any tricks of the trade ??

Hi Steveo, I have a hydro growbox, so my setup is different from yours, but I am coming to the conclusion that I'm going to have to buy a chiller, drill some holes in my box and put an end to the temp fluctuations in my reservoir. If you have the time and patience to be changing out frozen bottles, you can save the +/- $300.

Are you talking about room Temps or water? Are the buckets hydro?
If it's room temps, are u using an exhaust fan?

You could make one of those ice chest a/cs and just drop a big chunk of ice every day there's a bunch of them on YouTube u can make them pretty cheap I've made one with a copper coil wraps around a fan with a pump circulating ice water from the chest and it works great but kinda expensive and not necessary you can make one with just a small fan and ice chest

            Hi Steveo

What kind of exhaust fan do you have? Mine I can turn it up and the tent drops 10 degrees don't buy a chiller buy a good exhaust fan for your grow space.

Karlee I am also taking your suggestion quite seriously: save myself hundreds of dollars and go with a good strong fan to cool grow room down when temps rise. May I ask what temps do you fluctuate between in the summer? Or are you able to keep grow room at a steady temp?

Summer is better for me I keep the exhaust on 24/7 the temps never go over 80 the winter is a bitch because it's cold air the fan stirs it up and it gets way to cold. I have it on a timer now and took weeks of adjusting (a challenge) I have it at night coming on for half hour every two hours and when the lights come on less.

I have one exhaust running 2 tents and the challenge is the auto's have 24/7 light and gets warm so it wants more exhaust the other tent wants less happy median was a timer. Buy a fan for the size of the grow area I have a 600 watt light and my fan cools that light which is what produces the heat I want gone and moisture also.

Give your cannabis plants just the right amount of breeze indoors, and learn how to easily make a cheap, stealthy exhaust system...

Thanks Karlee that is very good and helpful to know. I'm so sick and tired of being worried about temperature all the freakin time...

Steveo h Hey! first thing, are you doing a soil and hydro setup??
2nd extend the tubes so you can pull the water away from the lights and in a cooler area! (like outside of the room? or 10 feet away)
3rd how is it set up
            4th Lights/air flow types
            5th time schedule
6th increase the rez size double the tanks even (it seems like you are pushing the water faster then it can cool the water down.) you need to make sure you have more fluids to the tanks for example if you have 2 stalls for the pants that are using 5 gals each you should have a 20 gal rez this way you have 10 gals that mix with the warmer water and then cause the temps to drop and allows for a cleaner less stress run.

Try everything that was suggested above (there are some great ideas posted). Definitely try to bring your room's temp down before thinking about getting a chiller. You may end up getting a chiller, but at least you won't have to run it as much if the environment is cooler (this will make the chiller last longer too).

i wouldn't touch hydro w/a 10 foot pole but i do admire a good well-executed idea seen to fruition...

If you are talking about room temps, I agree with Potted. I struggled with heat issues and finally bought a decent centrifugal exhausr fan with a speed control... problem solved!
