    Germination

At what point in the germination process should you provide light? Thanks.

Walla welcome to the forum buddy!Im aware that you are growing autos so that would be easy to say,you switch the light on when sou see cotyledons and switch it off when you crop! No cycles,no switches (unless u got leds, they might have flower/veg switch) . Now some people might say no light for seedlings but i have had 100% success on feeding them light before they even emerge from the dirt!Again that is my personal experience!

Im unsure what light you are using but one of your girls is lanky as can by,get the light closer but please let us know what light it is so we can help you avoid burning the little angel there

I personally start my seeds under an 18/6 schedule in Rapid Rooters, and give them light right from the beginning. But there's a million ways to skin a cat! You can wait to give light until you see the seedling pop above the soil to save on electricity. But what's important is to definitely be giving them light by the time you see leaves, or the leaves will stay yellow and won't open up. I think part of why seeds often do better under light from the beginning is they germinate better in warm temperatures, and the light keeps them warm from above, just like the sun Some growers use a seedling heating pad instead.

I also feel like it's important to make sure the Rapid Rooters don't stay too wet, especially after the first 24 hours or so. It's good to keep them moist (they should never dry out!) but the Rooter should never feel or appear wet. I've also found that seeds (unlike clones) seem to do best without a humidity dome, because a dome can also get things to stay too moist

Nebula, this is great information and a little more detailed than what you have up on GWE about germination. For ex., I didn't know about keeping them under light 18/6 from the start. I'd suggest adding the details to your germ. page--all except the "skin the cat" part, which frightened me. ;-]

You don't have to give them 18 hours of light a day, you can give them anything between 14-24 hours of light a day and they'll germinate just fine! I was just sharing what I personally do. But I'll take a look at the germination page again and add any extra tips that aren't on there!

About the cat, that's a common expression in my family but maybe it's time to use switch to something less gruesome

Keep light on through whole germ process...seed pops you want light there so no stretching occurs...24hrs light for seedlings and entire vegetation cycle....

Agree with the light from very beginning views, and especially to provide gentle warmth(at least with CFLS) for the pre-emerging part. 🌱
