Went out to my potting table today and discovered this. I use the large, shiny, metal bowl quite often to mix up my soils and left it sitting in the sun yesterday. Apparently the bowl worked like a magnifying glass and burned a hole right through the plastic bottle I left in it. I like to use this bowl because it cleans up so easily. There was a paper coffee filter in it that was scorched as well but luckily it was still wet. I really dodged a bullet. This bowl is going back in the kitchen. Lesson learned.
