    COCO COIR Coco+vermiculite?

Hey so I recently bought myself some vermiculite as the local hydroponics shop recommended it while growing in Coco, they said perlite or vermiculite would be ideal however vermiculite would take the edge, do you have any opinions on this and if so what ratio should I use between Coco and vermiculite? Any help is much appreciated

I was told when I started that vermiculite wouldn’t be a great choice since it holds water, I don’t know if there’s any difference in coco and soil in that respect I’m in soil, and that perlite would be a better choice. Hopefully someone that knows a hell of a lot more than me will chime in.

CaptainWiese91 uses vermiculite I believe so he can probably give you some advice on that.

Actually I don’t even know what vermiculite is 🤣.
I just know it holds water 🤣

I've used it in my soil mix. It holds water it's not for drainage or air space in soil. You need perlite also.

Coco + vermiculite will create a very heavy mix that will hold so much water the roots can't breathe.

Perlite also holds water (which is why it’s a great bed for growing mushrooms) but not as much as vermiculite. The key point is that, like everyone is saying, perlite is way way better for aeration.
