    While We Were Sleeping...

Grow #2 started with clones I rooted and revegged in June about a week into flowering from plants I harvested July 29 and Aug 4. I needed to sort my gnats , which are sorted. The smudge on the yellow card is where I leaned in and got it stuck to my forehead and had to pry it off my face with a dirty paw. There needs to be a warning on those things.

All 3 are the same because I don't think they are what they came out of, and it's really good stuff and I didn't get any seeds, even though it was in a tent with one that I now know is a herm. Went to 1- gallon pots from 4" to make it easier to treat if my gnats should turn nasty. Thanks to crucialbunny for the suggestion, I mixed diatomaceous earth in the soil before I added it to the pots, and sprinkled a little on top. No new gnats in either tent. I have peroxide and BTI as back-up plans. Small victories these days.
We're expecting our warmest temps of the year on Sunday (90F a few blocks from Canada and the ocean), so it will be a good time to see how stable the garage really is temp wise. The lights are budget LEDs and I'll move the plants nearer to them once this heat is past. I'm running the lights during the day (18/6) for veg to get the temp up and fooling around with the ventilation to maintain the humidity at something less than the Amazon Rain forest and more than a popcorn fart. Summer continues to be bizarre in the weather department up north.
Transplanted the ones I plan to keep for cuttings, too. Have more that need homes, gotta make room to start a few new seeds. Before that happens, I need to make a flowchart so I know when to start the seeds so they will be ready when this batch comes off - in about 2.5-3 months? I don't want to have too much going at the same time; I've seen some of y'all's enthusiasm and I get palpitations just seeing that many going at once - especially when each one might need something different. Baby steps. These 3 will go into 5-gallon containers in about 3 weeks, unless they turn radioactive and need it sooner. Training starts when the heat has passed and they've become used to their new digs.
    Happy Friday

Looks good so far. Yeah a lot of ladies at once can be a bit much at times but it's a good hobby to keep me busy and out of trouble. I work a full time job too so that makes it even more fun at times. I not only help myself to all the weed I can handle, but I also help out friends who need medical products, and I share a lot.
I do a lot of gummies for my non-smoking friends and share my wax and flower with the ones that do smoke. I also made a topical that quite a few of them love. They say it helps with pain, loosens muscles, reduces swelling, and it's a great moisturizer! 😂 I have a few branches to trim right now, since they're dry, and I will be hanging more tomorrow probably.
Honestly I started small and caught the growing bug right away. Started with one 4x4 and then started thinking how I could start them earlier to keep a constant rotation. Ended up with the 2x2x4 to start my seedlings and get things rolling. That wasn't enough so I got another 4x4. That still wasn't enough so I got the 8x8. And I haven't set it up yet but I bought a 2x4x6 to really get things moving along nicely.
I am probably going a little overboard but I can't wait for the rewards. Should have it to where I can harvest about every 5 weeks now, hopefully at least a pound each time. What can I say I love my weed lol
But at least you're able to grow your own weed. Most people are still having to buy it. Nothing like the accomplishment of a good harvest of your own weed. They look healthy, should be some good looking girls when they get bigger.

I'd be interested in hearing your about your topical. I make a lot for my eldest daughter who is in a wheelchair and has many muscle issues. Mine is very simple with only cannabis, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, and bees wax. I'm always looking to improve though. I have a friend who also uses it on her dog that has severe canine dermatitis. She says it's a miracle for her dog.

That's basically what mine is too. A little olive oil and a few drops of essential oils is really the only other things I add. Each batch I make is about 20 oz worth (fills 5x 4oz jars) and I put way more than the recommended 7-10g the recipe I found calls for. I made a double batch the first time (10 jars worth) and put 2oz total, decarbed weed. This is the recipe I used https://homesteadandchill.com/how-to...annabis-salve/

I'm glad the DE is working out for you. Sounds like you are evolving and moving forward. Growing has given many of us a much needed distraction from this crazy pandemic. I personally got swept up and dove in head first by having way way more plants than usual. Legally I'm allowed 6 and for years I've been doing 4-5..I began this year by starting a worm compost bin which then quickly became 2 bins. (1 for high nitrogen waste and the second for high phosphorous) Then I had friends that wanted me to start seedlings for them so I began this growing season with 60+ plants. Ended up with a almost perfect 50/50 male/female ratio. I also met a guy that was involved in a commercial operation and he began giving me their troublesome clones to nurse. It's become a bit of a toss up for what I enjoy more, the creating living soils or the growing. My vegetables have prospered from my new soil addiction as well. Since I grow outdoors I'll have a long off season to cook up something new to try next year. Nice work and I hope things continue to improve for you.

I really enjoy reading these posts seeing the communication and uses of the plant. I've never made topicals just butter to cook with. I've got a neighbor on our rode though i gave her some excess clones her plants are in 30gal fabric pots that sit there all year round she just moves the canopy over them when weather is iffy and during winter. She makes rubs and hopefully this winter she will show me how to make it. I'm a see it one do one type, oh i can read it and do it but i like to see it then do it baker LOL.

I like reading them too, lots of useful and sometimes new ways to use the entire plant. I actually had someone ask me to look into a topical for them. They love my gummies and really wanted me to try something for pain relief. A little Google search and found a few recipes, all very similar. Decided to go with the one above and increased the recommended bud weight and it's been working for a lot of people. I really didn't mean to put as much as I did (I meant to double, not triple) but it worked out I guess. I like to watch videos if I don't have someone handy to show me something, so I can definitely relate there.
