First grow - PC - Worm castings & nutrients

    Hello Community,

I'm setting up my first grow, I'm very excited and have a bit of anxiety at the same time. I'm growing in stealth mode inside a pc case. My goal is to have a continuous supply of quality weed for myself without spending too much time maintaining the plant and having a bit of fun while doing it.

Lights: at the moment I will be using a 60w CFL 6500K, but will be switching to a 30w LED full spectrum later.

Grow medium: I decided to grow in store bought soil mixed with worm castings (about 30%), because it's organic (preferable to me) and it's low maintenance, and probably I will have less of a chance of facing pest issues with worm castings.

One thing remains on my mind: the possible yields. I am not sure if worm castings contain enough nutrients for my plant to return a good yield, I would really like to get 60g yield.

Should I be adding any other nutrients? which ones (I prefer organic ones but non organic is fine if there is no other way)? I would really prefer not to flush the soil or calibrate the ph of the soil as things can go wrong and I have very limited time to dedicate to the plant. Please keep in mind that where I live I don't have access to weed specific nutrients.

    Thank you in advance guys

I don't have any answers for you'll but I will be following along if you choose to log your grow. I too will be starting a PC case grow within a month. Just waiting for a few parts. Good luck !

Why not, I will try to post some pictures, I'm waiting for parts too

Never seen a pc grow where the pot is outside the pc though good idea although it might take away some stealth points

      Good luck

Awesome, I have 2 white widow fem plants in my tent now that I could probably harvest this weekend but I think I'll let them go until the end of next week and 1 that I harvested last weekend that just got done drying and started curing. The WW is a real nice plant, vigorous and smelled phenomenal since it started flowering.

Nice, I can't wait. I see from your posts that you started growing recently, it seems that you learned fast

What would you say your biggest mistakes were at the beginning?

Yes I'm still very new to this but I did a lot of reading on the GWE site and here on the forum. Biggest mistakes.... I germinated more seeds than I should have because I wasn't expecting all of them to pop, I definitely overcrowded my tent but it gave me an opportunity to learn from multiple plants at once. It was overwhelming for a bit but a good learning experience. I should have used black air line instead of clear for my airstones because the clear allows light into the reservoir so I dealt with a little root rot but it never got out of hand. Honestly I feel I had pretty good luck with my grow even being my first, I'm sure I made mistakes that I haven't realized yet. I'll be starting my next grow next Sunday or monday, all autos this time.

I hate to rain on your parade but I don't think you're going to get 60g from a PC grow. Even the tutorials say "up to an ounce" and an ounce is half that. You can try (and I hope you succeed) but for a minimum of 60g you're going to want something a little bit bigger. A 2x2x4' tent would be perfect I think. It's small enough to fit in a closet, doesn't require a huge amount of light, and you can get well over 60g out of it. You have to keep in mind that your buds will be double or triple while they're on the plant, than they will be dry. Not saying it isn't possible but it's not likely the PC will have the physical space to hold more than an ounce (and still be good quality). I say quality because the bigger your plant gets, the less the light will be able to hit every part of the plant and that can decrease the quality and yield. I've had some decent sized plants only give me a half ounce because of the lighting, just something to keep in mind. Best of luck to you and happy growing!

Thanks for the info, and yes it did rain on my parade a little

I think I was a bit optimistic, I will try to do my best though, that's why I'm asking about nutrients, to give the plant what it needs to maximize yields in this small space

I would love someone's opinion on the following plan of nutrients, at least to know if I'm way off:

My soil will be composed of worm castings (30%), perlite, vermiculite and soil, I will be adding fungi to boost the roots too.

I couldn't find nutrients with good NPK values so I had to mix them up (sorry about he odd numbers).

In the first week of Veg I will be combining 2 solid organic nutrients with NPK 6-3-4 and 2.96-1.36-5.6 (using a little of the second one) resulting in 9.02-4.36-9.6, I figured there won't be shortage of N because wormcastings already has some.

I will be top dressing once every 2 weeks, according to the package the nutrients should last for 2 months.

In the first week of flower, once, I will be adding bone meal (should be at 4-15-0) and 1-0-19 (using more of the first one) to obtain a total of 6.2-19.5-19

All the nutrients should be slow release, and in case of photo seeds (in future grows) I will be trying to keep them in veg as much as the grow space allows.

I will be using super cropping to maximize the space, also I will be using a soil PH meter and regulate the PH using lemon juice / Sodium bicarbonate in the water.

How far am I from reality? what are the chances of burning my plant?

I'm using a seaweed kelp extract (for veg) every other watering at full strength and to be blunt my plants fucking love it. I bought mine at my local grow shop but i'm assuming since your hiding it it may not be legal where you are but I would think you can get it at any garden center hoping there an essential service where you are.I'm growing in super soil something similar to yours mine also has peat-moss perlite and guano. I was a little worried about adding nutrients myself because of the rich soil for fear of burning but started light then increased till I saw the tips burnt a bit then backed off.I would still be cautious when adding your nutes dont go the recommended strength it'll fry them.

Sweet, I will try to be careful and add nutes slowly, there is no recommended dose, so I'm completely blind, I'll go by instincts

Yes it's not legal here, on top of that, there is very little pure organic fertilizer, bone meal had to be shipped from another country, kelp is available as nutrition for people not as fertilizer (I don't want to risk it as it may contain other stuff too), the only organic fertilizer available is some commercial stuff that usually doesn't say exactly what it contains, that's why I had to improvise

thanks and good luck with the plant
