    Will my humidifier work with this humidity controller? (VOLTAGE question)

    I'm growing my first plant and I'm having issues with humidity regulation so I'm wanting to tap my humidifier into a controller to turn on/off when the humidity reaches a certain %.

    My humidifier power adapter is 18v and I was curious which of the below would work for it.

    The power supply in question:
    Class 2 Power Supply
    Model: TP02-180060U
    INPUT: 100/240V (0.5A) Max 50/60Hz
    OUTPUT: 18V (0.6A)

    I'm assuming the voltage doesn't have to be exact for these devices for them to function correctly and an 18v adapter would work well using the 24v rated device?
    Or does it need a full 24v flowing through it in order for the components on it to function correctly?

    Sorry, I'm an idiot when it comes to these things.

    The humidifier is the mainstays $10 humidifier. It's the bottle version. I'm currently on day 19 of my grow.

    They also sell a 110-220v version, but I was under the impression that the output was all that mattered.

    Problem is if you give it 12v (underpowered) you lose efficiency at best and risk it not working. But if you overpowered it (24v) you risk frying the wires/components. At best you will shorten the lifespan of the equipment.
    Why are you attempting a hard wire? They make ones that function like humidity controlled wall outlets. Are you in the US using 120v?
    If so I can link you to a much simpler device.

      You have 3 technically 4 options for power supply to your controller. Either 12v battery, 24v battery, or 110 or 220 from a wall outlet. .... I bought a humidifier on Amazon for $40 that has a built in controller, if that's in your budget I'll post the link for it.

        I'm hard wiring it because the only other way would be a device that has a built in outlet/power supply like the one you linked to. I was wanting to keep my budget between $10-20.

        I live in Oklahoma, USA.

        I'm alright with using efficiency as I can just turn the humidifier up more. I just don't know if the mechanism that vaporizes the water will function on that low of a voltage.
        I will test this out tomorrow if I can find a 12v adapter w/ the proper amperage and a plug that fits.

        I was wanting to keep it between $10-20. I will figure it out by the end of this week if I'm going to shell out more than that.

            Yes. Exactly! But make sure to get the 110v version.

            They only have one version and that's the 110-220v.
