I harvested my first successful grow last month and now on my second. Thanks to GWE i was able to fix my exhaust setup the right way! One of my plants hermied but it was my first grow so i wasn't too upset. I didn't know there was a forum or i would have posted a journal. I did write one however. I look forward to sharing info and positive vibes with you all!

Happy to be here, a big shout out to the friend who referred me (he knows who he is)
Nebula Haze, I tried to send you a private message with a question, but I got an error box back saying you are over your message quota...or something to that effect.
I'm looking forward to hopping around to the tutorials, etc. Nice forum!
Happy and Safe New Year to all.

Now that is something that would be handy in a separate section!Nice comeback with that Bud,there isn't a specific subforum for anything besides this welcoming one and the general forum but im in for a category with edibles and cooking!! +1

I totally agree with you on that Nartak. The second thing I enjoy the most about this plant is cooking with the fruits of my labors! The first is...growing it.

I like that idea....having a section for growing, and then one for culinary uses of our favorite crops, which might also include medicinal related posts, or keep that in its own section. Then one could have a better idea of where to find relevant posts. 😊

That's actually a good idea! Next time we do an update I think we may do that! The only things we updated this last time was a bug preventing some people from being able to upload pictures (it would tell them the file extension was not accepted, even if it was fine). We're hoping this recent update fixed it! Other than the picture upload (hopefully) working, everything has stayed the same this time

Old worn out Hippie here, last grow was in the mid 70's and those were taken from my garden. Since my State was legalized I started to research growing Cannabis, joined another forum (very friendly) but when I found GWE it all came full circle. Easy to follow and fun to jump from one article to another with the "little Blue links". As soon as I get to a new home with better security I will share my new growing room here on this great forum. My plan is to grow the meds that are designed for my precise needs AKA old man pain and to get my immune system up and running at full speed. NebulaHaze...........You rock.....thank you.

Happy New Year all!!
Okay, I couldn't quite figure out how to link a journal to my signature, but I got it now.
Go to your journal and click on the post number in the upper right corner, copy that link and save it somewhere. Or go to a post that you want to link to, and do the same.
Click on your user name to get to your profile. Under your name click on "edit settings", then click on "account". Scroll down to the
"Conversation Detail Options" and click on the "edit post signature" Type in your Journal name and then paste the link you copied under that.
Click save, and then okay. Then for good measure click the "save settings" tab and you are done!
I added the instructions to my signature.
Pass this on if anyone else needs it.Last edited by Bud Magic; 01-01-2017, 07:34 PM.

Hi Rockman.
One thing I do regularly to get really close up pictures (macro shots) of trichomes is to tape a jewelers magnifier loupe over the lens of my camera on my phone. I have some pictures of this, but I'm not sure where I should go to post them yet. Not sure the welcome thread is the place.
Then I rubber band the phone to a tripod top and get in there good and steady. The more magnification you do, the steadier you need to keep the camera/tablet. The slightest shaky hand or movement will cause blur. A tripod really helps to keep from having blurred shots when getting in close with the loupe. If you don't have a tripod, just steady your elbows using a pillow or something to lean on to keep your hands steady.
For good pics, always check your backgrounds and clutter. You want your focus to be on the bud/plant or whatever it is you are trying to show. Clear things away or get tighter to the subject. Cropping is a great tool, you can get rid of a lot of distractions around your subject with that.
Also, when taking pictures of plants close up, turn off any fans. You don't want the subject blowing in the breeze while you are trying to take the pic. ;-)
I'll get some more tips in later, just wanted to fly that one to you while I was here.
Hope that was helpful for now.
Check out the Grow Weed Easy site for some awesome tips on photographing your plants too: (now that I've been completely through that page, it says it all. Fabulous write up!)
Learn how to take beautiful pictures of cannabis with the camera you already have. These simple tricks turn regular plant or bud pictures into works of art!
Also, I just discovered the greatest little light for holding near my plants or taping to a tripod to direct light at my subject. I got a couple as Christmas presents. Check your local hardware or home centers for GRIP 37110 COB LED light. Amazon has them too. These are the handiest little lights, and very very bright. Much more compact than trying to hook up a bulb somewhere near you.Last edited by Bud Magic; 01-01-2017, 09:35 PM.

Thanks so much Bud, you've brought up some great points, as well as reminding me that GWE is still the "go to" for info (sometimes I spend all my time with forum info, and forget where this all began!😊). Green mentioned about using the loupe on my thread, and your suggestion to tape it sounds perfect. I haven't been so concerned about pic quality with the the beginnings of my grow, but getting great views of developing buds and trichomes seems pretty important. As far as lighting, fortunately with my setup (circular cage with bamboo side poles to hold the many CFL fixtures) I can easily get focused light on the subject. Always turn off that fan 😊.Really nice to have you on this forum....we'll definitely appreciate your wisdom with cannabis cultivation! 🌿

Hey Rockman,
If you have the loupe, or are getting one, you might find the metal part that swings out to hold it gets in the way and stops your loupe from sitting flat over the camera on the phone/tablet. I removed it so there is no gap between the loupe lens and the camera lens. A gap there will give you less quality on your pics.
Be sure you have the proper side of the loupe facing the camera lens. Mine has little LED lights on it (that I don't use), and those should face outward.
Looking forward to how you do with this.

Glad to join the the growing crowd. After growing outdoors for years with intermittent success, I decided to explore indoor growing. Tried your cheap cfl small grow and got good looking buds but very airy and light. Went back outside. I have saved enough for a proper tent grow and am looking forward to the start of a fun new hobby. Cheers to all and keep the march going for legal cannabis.2 Photos

Hello All,
New here to the forums. I found this site very informative before I joined, so decided to create an account. This is going to be my first indoor grow as the last time i did was when i was a teenager. Let me tell you that things sure have changed since then. I never thought that MJ would ever be quasi legal here in the mitten state, but here we are. I say quasi because it is still looked down upon by the fed level.
I built a room inside my barn and got one of the rooms going and just started flowering (6) two and a half month old green crack strain plants. This is going to be really fun as I love to grow MJ. Glad to be a part of this forum and hello from the mitten state

New member here!...Just wanted to shout out a HUGE thanks to Nebula & Sirius for all the AMAZING information here, by far the best place for complete newbies like myself to learn quick. I'm finally off the ground and running with my own indoor grow; things got off to a shaky start but now I'm cruising along nicely!
This is my first grow EVER, and I have acquired several top-notch components and put together a nice grow tent-project; Agromax XL 4.5'X8' tent, Sun System Magnum XXXXL low-profile reflector, Solis-Tek Matrix digital 1000W ballast with Solis-Tek 600W bulbs (4K, 6K, 10K MH & 2K HPS) and a 2' 4-lamp T5 'starter' lamp. Acquired seeds from 'Seedsman', a very good experience. Some of my stuff was sourced on eBay, but most came from a local grow store (HTG Supply); the people there have been very helpful. I'm planning to grow in soil (50% organic potting soil, 50% HappyFrog) in 5-gal smart pots. I'll be using General Hydroponics 'Flora'-series liquid nutes. PH'd my tap water the other day, and it read about 6.2 which I feel is OK. Helpful critique from other members is welcome!
My initial difficulty was due to poor 'environment' management when trying to germinate; fixed that with a small heater and a humidifier, as well as a 'starter' pod with heat mat. Once the environment was dialed in, the plants have really responded. I'm about three weeks into this project and will hopefully have some decent pics to share in the future. Thanks again!!!Agromax XL tent, Sun System lo-pro Mag XXXL, SolisTek Matrix ballast, SolisTek MH/HPS bulbs, GH Flora Trio, CO2 bag, 3 gal Air-Pots.
