You want well over 50 real watts of blurple light per square foot to come close to strong light, so I'm still a little short, which is why I'm trying not to use 2 feet of my closet.

It is definitely okay, in fact very wise, to start your grow light "collection" with small, well researched, calculated increments. As you grow tent, you change light, you can tailor stuff to your tent with several smaller lights.
But if you got a 315CMH, you could be done with it.Nothing is foolproof for the sufficiently talented fool.

Knowing what I know now about lights, I wish I would have bought a Mars TS 1000 and been done. Instead I've got two lights drawing more power putting out less than half as efficient light. Not the end of the world, just means I'm stuck with these china LED's. They will make good Veg lights in the future that's forsure.

I have a full grow journal that I need to finish typing up, but here’s a condensed version.
Lights: 3 viparspectra 600w reflector series in a 4x4 tent (actual power draw 260 watts/light)
Grew from seed in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. Popped seeds July 27. Started them under CFLs, then moved to the vipar LEDs 3 weeks later. Vegged for 63 days and flowered for 75 days.
During veg - Compost tea made from composted chicken manure from our backyard chickens. Alfalfa, malted barley, and kelp meal top dressing every other week. Boosted our roots with aloe vera root soaks and Great White mycorrhizae. Added some CalMag. Battled a little nitrogen toxicity.
During flower - Terpinator, general hydroponics’ floralicious plus, koolbloom, biothrive bloom (stopped this halfway through flower), and calmag. Some Fish Shit and mycorrhizae each week. Battled some heat issues and had to open the tent door when the lights were on despite lots of venting and circulation and fans.
I think a real key was that I made an automatic humidifier with a single mistmaker and fan kit from House of Hydro and a humidistat (Willhi brand). Our climate is dry and this made our plants so happy. House of Hydro makes great products - https://youtu.be/DAwnt4rwNJ4
We did a little low stress training in early flower by bending the main growth down and tying down side branches and this made the plants get super bushy and we ended up with lots of nice colas.
Thanks for the love folks! I just did what y’all said to do and listened to my plants. Best of luck to everyone. We grabbed some clones from the plants so we are already on our next round in a new 2x2. Can’t wait to let you know how those go.

Hello fine people. I finally completed my full grow journal from last summer through winter, with lots of videos and photos. I thought I'd share it here, in case people needed something to pass the time. Should I post it anywhere else? Stay safe everyone!
