Newbie first time growing and new member

First i want to say im glad to be apart of this community and i hope to learn alot. Ive been browsing the forum for along time now and since i just started my first ever grow i figured id officially join.

well i started my first grow and i starting with 2 autoflower blue diesel seeds from advanced seeds. I plan on using super soil (kind soil) for my first run, but i also have general hydroponics floral series just incase. I am using pro mix potting soil but am looking to invest in something different i just dont know yet. I have a 600w led viparspectra ill be using.

I think i started to over water the plants a bit already so i stopped feeding for now. The babies are 5 days old and i dont really know anything so any help will be appreciated.

They are on there way. Just don't water them too much. Keep them moist not soaking wet. Don't give them any nutes, just water "till your fist set of sarated leaves. About 3 weeks.
    BTW Welcome to our world.

Thanks i think i over watered because the leaves started bending downward. So i stopped feeding and let the temperature rise to 82 degrees. They are drying out good so ill wait till tomorrow to check the soil to water again.

Welcome Drunkin! Glad to see you're on your way to discovering the thrills of your first grow. Please don't overwater or overfertilize at this very tender young stage. Let it develop roots, please be patient cause it will not do all that much at first. Great choice with the Kind soil (just follow their directions about keeping it at bottom of container). I'm using that now, and the ease of just watering and getting all the nutrition needed to thrive is amazing me. There are many other details our forum members should be advising you on, so stay tuned and keep those pics coming! 😊🌱

Im glad the kind soil is working for you. Now im a little more at ease knowing it does work. I havent watered in roughly a day and a half. Ill check the soil tomorrow and probably feed them then. I think im only going to use the spray bottle and not pour it in.

now is key time to have that light as close as possible so they wont crazy stretch on you.....warm on skin.. to close.....do you have holes poked in cup for drainage and on side for air flow...looks good...sweet babies...

I have holes at the bottom for drainage. I didnt think about whole on the side ill add a few later on today. I wanted to put the light closer (inhave it at about 18inches away) but ive read that leds are strong so you want to keep them further away. Is this correct or do you think i can go lower. Its a 600 w viparspectra.

I started my led at 20 inches above week old babies, they are liking it. The warning with the light said keep it at least 18 inches away.

Manufacture says 24 inches. But ive read led are never as strong as described so i figured 18 inches should be fine. Ill keep a close eye for burns or anything

Best way to test is to put the back of your hand as close to the light as you can for 30 seconds comftrably. That is as close you can put the top of the plant.

Ok so the brightness of the light shouldn't matter then?

And forgot to mention...a small fan on the young baby will do wonders to strengthen that stem as it grows. 🌱

That's what I use...don't need to blow it away...just make it feel a little like being outside with some wind.

Welcome aboard DIH. Like rockman and yourself, I too am growing in kindsoil. I really like using coco loco by fox farms for my filler media. It is also the recommended media by the kindsoil people. They said it's the most consistent with good yields.

          Im diggin it!

Thanks everyone i appreciate thw advise and im sure the babies will too.

i do have a question. How do i know if a plant is stretching compared to just growing normally?

More of seedlings. One plant is about an inch in a half from the top of the dirt and right under the first set of leaves. And the other is about an inch. I didnt know if that was normal.

If they both were getting the same amount of light, that variation may be nothing to be concerned about. With sufficient light and a nice breeze, the stems should not stretch too much. I would just continue to fine tune your growing method and watch (with patience) for any more signals of issues as further leaves develop. It's well worth the wait when the seedlings finally get going strong! 🌿
