Grow 7: A Tale of Two Bubbas

Hello again, and welcome to my 7th grow. Here's my lineup:

    Strains:

Bubba Kush Auto from Humboldt Seeds
Bubba Cheese Auto from Humboldt Seeds
    White Widow CBD Auto

    Environment and Equipment:

    4 55w Autocobs
    3*3*6 tent
4 in Carbon Fan and Filter
Small clip on fan and table top fan
Currently 77 degrees in tent and 45% humidity
    3g pots
    Mother Earth Coco

    Nutrients:

    Silica Blast
    CalMag from Megacrop
    Megacrop
    Sweet Candy from Megacrop
    Bud Explosion from Megacrop

    Training Methods:

Quadlining - Leaving only 2nd and 3rd nodes on when plant has 5-6 nodes.

If you are following the great auto showdown, then you have probably come across my Bubba Kush Auto. She is already growing, currently at day 29.

I started preparing my coco for the Bubba Cheese a few hours ago, and will be getting a few things from the grow store when they open later today to start my White Widow CBD.

I've referred to the way I train my plants as a double mainline, but recently had a member point me to a page that calls this same method Quadlining. I will be referring to this method as Quadlining from now on.

I will be Quadlining the 2 Bubba's, and I may just top the White Widow, maybe even just do some LST. I know from past experience that I can't have more than 2 Quadlined plants in my tent. There simply isn't enough room in a 3*3 for that.

I'm curious to see how the White Widow CBD turns out. I know when I smoke and have a sore throat, it seems to really help. It almost seems illogical that smoking something could help ease a sore throat, but it definitely does the trick.

I've praddled on long enough, here's some pics of the Bubba, and hopefully next week I'll be able to show the other 2 above ground and healthy.

And a special thanks to GWE and everyone on here. I wouldn't be the grower I am today without everyone's help on this awesome website.

Looking good Mcubed I thought you were going to chop that GC lol your being smart to let her finish , as they are autos and I'm a firm believer in not stressing autos those girls look to be ready for their final homes .when I use hard pots I try to transplant when the leafs hit the edge of the pots ,with photos this isnt a concern, but the time it takes an auto to recover from being root bound will stop half its vertical growth

I have no facts on this but just experience

Thanks for the kind words OJH! I actually did chop the gorilla glue down yesterday. I couldn't believe the size of that beast when I brought her out from the tent. I really think I'll get close to a pound off that one auto.

I think I was at the beginning of the harvest window with that one. Probably 10-15% Amber trichomes when I looked with my loupe.

All those pics are just of the one bubba kush that is currently in the auto showdown. I don't have any others started, but I plan on doing that today.

Other than my first grow, I've always started my seeds right in their final home, the 3g pots. So far it's done me pretty well.

      Have a great day OJH!

Bubba Kush is one of my favs - have one growing - although the one growing is my last seed and I somehow think I may have stunted it.

Thanks you two! I agree, Bubba has been one of my favorites that I have grown so far. Great taste, even better high.

After a long day of flushing Coco, I finally have the other 2 planted. Bubba Cheese is in the front of the tent, white Widow CBD is in the back.

This grow now has all its participants and is officially ready for take off.

    Today is day:

    35 for Bubba Kush
6 for Bubba Cheese and White Widow CBD

So far so good! Yesterday I went to train some more branches down on the bubba Kush, and accidentally snapped a branch. Luckily, it wasn't a main branch lol. I taped it together and will probably take the tape off in another 4 or 5 days to see if it's healed.

I'm giving the bubba Kush slightly less nutes because I saw what was beginning to look like a nitrogen toxicity, and the new growth is looking better.

The little ones popped 2 days ago, and today they received their first dose of very light nutes. The white Widow is a bit bigger than the bubba cheese, but it was also the first one above ground.

I have a pic of the bubba Kush that I grew previously at day 37. I'll show a comparison of the 2 here. They look very similar, except the training is a little different with this one. Seems like Humboldt has a stable line of genetics, which is always a good thing. The first pic is the current bubba Kush, the 2nd is the one I previously grew.

    Have a great week everyone!

      Today is day:

      43 for the Bubba Kush
14 for Bubba Cheese and White Widow CBD

Overall, things are looking good in the tent.

This quadlined on the Bubba Kush is probably my worst looking quadline for a couple reasons. It got too lanky when it was young so it's quite a bit taller than I would like it to be. I also have run out of wires to restrain it. I just have to get new ones before the young ones start their training because the bubba Kush is pretty much at the end of it's training point. Just have to let her grow from here on out really.

The white Widow cbd is quite a bit bigger than the bubba cheese at the moment, but everyone looks pretty healthy.

In a couple weeks they will start their training as well.

      Today is day:
      51 for Bubba Kush
22 for White widow CBD and Bubba Cheese

The Bubba Kush is starting to get buds. Overall she looks very healthy. She is quite bushy and has a massive stem on her now. I wish I would have been able to train her further because the branches are really close to each other, but hopefully the flower stretch will separate them a little bit.

The youngins have started their training. They are also looking very healthy and happy.

These pics are from a few days ago. Been a busy week so I forgot to post on Monday.

        57 for the Bubba Kush
28 for Bubba Cheese and White Widow CBD

Everyone is looking pretty good for the most part. I think I might lower the nutes a little bit for the younger ones. They appear to have a touch if a nitrogen toxicity.

The Bubba Cheese had a branch that snapped off this week (operator error), and so now she is a triline, not a quadline lol.

Bubba Kush is starting to stack some nugs, and she smells good!

        63 for the Bubba Kush
34 for the Bubba Cheese and White Widow CBD

Things are looking pretty good overall. The Bubba Kush is very leafy, and the buds are stacking very nicely. I've defoliated a few times, and I will again shortly.

The White Widow CBD is looking really good. Her training is coming along well, and close to completion.

The Bubba Cheese has been through a lot lol. I snapped off one of the main branches so it's a triline, and the other day I accidentally snapped off a side branch. Other than that she is looking okay. She does appear to have a slight nitrogen toxicity still, so I will lay off on the nutes a little bit.

        Have a great week everyone

        Today is day:

        71 for the Bubba Kush
42 for the Bubba Cheese and White Widow CBD

The Bubba Kush is looking good. Buds are stacking a little more each day. She still has a ways to go though before harvest.

The Bubba Cheese is one of the weirdest looking plants I have grown. The flower stretch has really kicked in this week for her. She has some extremely long stems that only have one bud site on them. She also has 4 branches coming off of some of the main stems when I'm normally used to seeing 2 branches. (The pics will paint a better picture than my words lol.)

The White Widow CBD is looking good. She hasn't stretched as much as the Bubba Cheese, but she is well on her way.

The younger ones are almost starting to show budlins. By next week, I believe they will have some started.

I just see the Sativa characteristics in Cheese: long internode spacing, lanky appearance; my two Sativa strong hybrids also shot out various stems that have a bud site on top and nothing else; I'm pruning them off... More energy to the main colas...

So it's been a few weeks since I have updated (mainly because I'm lazy lol), and I would love to update with photos, but I have an in-law with us that has been over the past couple days.

I don't mind having her over, but since my wife's whole family is quite anti-weed, I can't smoke, and I can't go down to check on the plants. The main problem is that I haven't watered in over 48 hours because I can't go down there. I'm going to have to water tonight when she goes to bed because if I go any longer there will be negative effects (if there haven't been any already.)

I do have my wyze cam to snap a pic, so I'll leave you with that, but there aren't any close ups. Last time I checked they were looking really good with buds stacking.

        Have a great night everyone!

I ended up watering that night. Forgot that my little container of Megacrop was pretty much empty, and the rest of the Megacrop was upstairs in my room. So the plants all got a minimal dose of nutes because I wasn't going to go back upstairs and then back downstairs.

I wish I was a ninja but that was not the case lol. They did get watered though, which they desperately needed lol

        Today is day:

        93 for the Bubba Kush
64 for the Bubba Cheese and White Widow CBD

For the most part everyone is happy and healthy. There are some spots on the leaves due to lack of watering. Couldn't water when I needed to because I had an inlaw stay over longer than I anticipated.

The Bubba Kush is getting closer to harvest, but still no Amber trichomes to be found. Most of the trichs are cloudy and almost all the hairs are orange so I know harvest is just around the corner.

The Bubba Cheese is getting bigger nugs than I was anticipating, which is always a good thing lol. Almost undoubtedly the tallest plant I've grown to date.

The White Widow CBD is making me sad it's a CBD plant, because it looks like it has the potential to be some great smoke. I've never grown a normal (thc) White Widow, but am definitely interested in growing one after this round. I plan to make this plant into mainly capsules to see how the CBD oil helps medicinally.

Getting closer and closer to the end of this grow, and am already thinking about the next one lol.

        Have a great day everyone

          Today is day:
          102 for Bubba Kush
73 for Bubba Cheese and White Widow CBD

The Bubba Kush continues to get closer to harvest, but I'm still not seeing any Amber trichomes so she will carry on for a little longer. Her top leaves are pretty yellow, and I believe it's coming from slight light burn. Other than that she is looking pretty healthy.

The Bubba Cheese is also looking pretty good for the most part. She is the plant that is taking over the tent in this run with her sativa characteristics. She has the most noticeable light burn because of her height, and I cannot raise my lights any higher.

The White Widow CBD surprised me. One day, she had mainly white hairs. I checked the tent a day and a half after that, and almost all her hairs turned orange. I've never seen hairs change that quickly. She is looking very good overall, and her smell reminds me of grizzly mint chewing tobacco. Very interested to smoke her based on her smell.

I say it all the time, but I'm stoked for harvest time! And it's getting closer everyday.

          Have a great weekend everyone!
