Im germinating some seeds right now and getting ready to transplant to a peat pod. I have a new LED light (red and blue spectrum) that Im going to use during the seedling phase but Ive never used a LED before. When I turn the light on the red spectrum switch and wait a few minutes and look at the light only small red dots are visible. The same is true for the blue spectrum switch (only blue dots). Not a bright light at all. When I have both switches on both coloured dots appear. Is this correct? should I return the light? Also I run a 315 CMH in a 4x4 tent and is it ok or recommended to use this light on a lower wattage like 115w and maybe have the light a few feet away from the tray??

You should use blue/white lights on the seedlings and vegging plants.

Run both LED colors and place the LED 28" from the top of the soil with LED fixtures less than 600w.It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

what are your thoughts about using the 315 cmh? I have a dimmer switch so I could run on lower wattage? what would you recommend? I could go down to the local hydro store and buy a light. also when would I be able to use the CMH on full strength?
