I am wondering about this as is starts to get cooler...but not for heat reasons ... once the grow is in flower and has stiff strong structure, do you keep the fans running 24/7 or is it ok to shut them down OR reduce run time?

Airflow is important for all stages of growth, as leaves create a microclimate around leaves that is called the boundary layer resistance. This is because if there is no airflow, and so static. The humid air envelopes the leaf and restircts transpiration as if the entire room had high humidity.
Airflow is even more important during flowering as this microclimate can create an environment that makes bacteria and fungus easier to propogate and thrive. Which causes problems such as bud rot.Written Articles:

I also, run circulation fans all the time, as brisk as I dare, so as not to cause stress.
However, during the last few weeks of flower- I reduce the velocity, not wanting to blow the volatile terpenes- out the exhaust from too much velocity!
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

All great thoughts and practices. I am wondering this.... based on the “still air” possibility in the middle of 4 pots in a 5 foot square: my exhaust fan runs open on the intake side, then has a 6” tube connecting out to the reflector hood , through the hood and from there, the duct runs about 19 feet to exhaust. Could it make sense to drop a 6’ piece of vent down into the center of the pots to draw any stagnant air from the core and then up into the exhaust fan and through the rest of the vent system?
it seems as though this additional movement of air could help to prevent damp areas not getting any breeze from the fansLast edited by Farmall; 10-19-2018, 04:21 PM.

I have a 40" oscillating fan running 24/7 on lowest speed.
My understanding is: the more airflow the better. My Perpetual Guerilla Grow - GWE forum thread.

My 5x5 space has a pair of 8" Honeywell TurboForce fans on opposing walls. they do dual duty; passive airflow to keep my led fixtures cool and promote air circulation in the room. They run 24/7 but are kept on the lowest setting-provides a gentle breeze flowing across the canopy.WHAT???
