Growing in Adverse Weather....in Pics

As everyone knows from this site, outdoor growers not only have to battle the Law, snakes, spiders, cougars, coyotes, flies, bears, gators and Bigfoot but also new threats like Dogging, etc ( alltatup Don`t ask me to explain Dogging. I don`t know if you have it over there but it`s rife around here. I honestly don`t know where they get the energy. Have to wander carefully around certain areas here otherwise you`re in for a bit of a eye opener to put it mildly. When someone sees a moon it`s not always in the sky I tell you!). Now, if this isn`t enough, some of you guys have been talking about some of the weather conditions that have made growing indoors or outside more....entertaining. For me, it`s been the heat but I live in a part of the country that makes outdoor grows in woods say, difficult.
I have placed 2 pics here to show the average fun packed view I regularly get from my window and which stops me from growing in my mate`s woods nearby, sadly. This was at 1 in the afternoon.

you left out aphids. i just had an aphid attack, and panicked! I pretty much have them under control with 2.5 tablespoons of Dawn, 2.5 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and a gallon of warm H2O. I could have ordered some expensive insecticide, but this is working out just fine.

Sorry mate out here its the opposite. You can damn near grow outdoors in the winter. Right now its like the Mediterranean here. Hot days and cool nights. At times some humidity as we are in a delta, but the breeze mitigates it.

I'm growing a pineapple and guava trees. Pomegranate and citrus also. Not trying to rub it in, just counting my blessings.

There are a few local olive oil producers who grow and press olives minutes from me. Most olive oil sold at the grocery store is rancid(and I'm not talking about Armstrong and Freeman), but I didn't believe it until I tasted good, fresh olive oil.

Growing outdoors is going to become a much riskier business in many places because of global warming. So I see indoor growing technology as a very good thing, especially if we have access to solar and wind power. Anything to keep down the carbon footprint; that's the right karma.

alltatup I read a report that predicted global warming and rising sea levels will mean the North & Scotland will become the new Champagne growing areas....personally I prefer cider. Growing in scenary like this would be alright. Been here. I thought it was better than Stonehenge myself (Wasn`t taken with Stonehenge. Bit like the Mona Lisa-when you see it it`s smaller than you think it would be. Mind you, just lugging those stones for Stonehenge wouldn`t be up there in my bucket list that`s for sure, druids or no bloody druids) but you have to see it in it`s setting. Very nice....if you like this kinda thing...I think having a nice house in the sticks near an old circle or few stones like this with a nice grow going indoors and a quiet one outside would be sweat. Solar panels and a small wind turbine and small well...that would suit me. Not having to deal with anybody, going hermit...I`m almost there but that would be the location...need to find a cave me thinks

D.A.A.S.69 alltatup I was here earlier today. Ten mins by car from my place. Stones came from Wales, same type as at Stonehendge but this place is 1,000 years older they reckon.You walk down a little path and there you are, very mellow.If I was those cows I wouldn`t be so chilled. Stones attract UFO`s. Well known fact that., ...Oh....and those stones, they`re very heavy and very big....makes you wonder how they did it

alltatup Trust me alltatup they didn`t smoke weed before they lugged those over the ground. No one ever smoked weed or did mushrooms before they did that. I mean those buggers are very, very heavy There`d have been a dust up, albeit very civilised and polite (`Sling yer hook` `I beg your pardon.` ` You want a thick ear`. See-the voices, they speak softly to me from the distant past, revealing the glorious words of profound wisdom from our ancestors-`Shove off or I`ll get our Henry to come and sort you out!`) . Must admit I did think of you guys as I wandered aimlessly around. I was suffering due to a particularly heavy pub lunch with a very fine draught Doombar beer on top that we were trying to walk off on the way back to mine. Nearby pub has another circle in the beer garden I believe and is called the Druids Arms. You and your pups would be happy there, wandering between the rocks. Some right big ones there as well. My mate said they came from Preseli Hills in Wales and it`s roughly 144 miles as the crow flies to where they are now. D.A.A.S.69 Not usually mate. I don`t often start before 6pm as the day stops after that We were there after a particularly brutal carvery Brit style which meant it was mega, I mean mega stogie (Stogie-`unpleasantly heavy and causing you to feel very full`). Doombar as well and you have this block of concrete churning around in your guts. Sets my mate`s wind off something rotten so we went there to let him show the cows how it is done. The lad is a walking one man wind turbine in his own right. I keep warning him of the dangers of follow through but he ain`t one for listening.

Nice looking plant, especially with all the non sense she's been forced to put up with! Love the use of the five gallon bucket as a raised bed, you can make dam near anything out of a five gallon bucket!

Greenhouseeffect they are in 55gallon barrels that i cut in three i use the middle for rised beds and the top and botthom as pots....so more like 20gallons pales

Nothing will come out of the bush at night except insects and they all bite so we keep the outdoor lights off so they won't be attracted except from the smell of our blood. To go out in the bush at night one needs a good light, great eyes, know the desert and have a big pair of balls.
