These two were planted 3 days apart. They are White Widows from the same seed bank. They were grown next to each other, under identical circumstances in identical soil & with identical regimens. The only difference is the one on the left was started in a 2gal. plastic bucket. The one on the right was started in the clay pot it's in right now. Can someone explain this to me?

All I can say is topping and training. The one in the blue bucket was topped and given proper lst while the one in the clay pot was left to grow natural. By the looks of it they are 2 different phenotypes but it’s difficult to say for sure due to the different variables in training.Failure is an opportunity for improvement!!

The one on the right wasn't topped or trained because it never got over 4" tall or developed properly. I just put it in the flower area on a whim & that's when it took off...well, sorta. Anyway, at this point it's more of a science project than anything. It was runty from the beginning. If the sun always shone

Good question & yes, i put enough stone to cover the bottom of all my pots & buckets. It was still cold in the basement (where the garden is) so i had a small heat lamp going several feet from the plants. My friend said he thought that maybe the clay heated up more than the plastic & negatively impacted the root development......
.....or maybe it was just a goofy seed. It was a freebie, so....If the sun always shone

BB, on my very first grow, I germinated two Chemdawg seeds; one grew into a gorgeous monster, and the other remained a little runt. In the exact same conditions. Definitely not identical twins!
I'm a hydro grower, but if I used soil/coco, I'd never ever plant cannabis in a clay pot (both pots look on the small side to me). I plant succulents in clay pots because clay dries fast, but cannabis needs a lot more water than succulents.Anyone can grow schwag. I think it was just a dud.. should have still gotten bigger then 4" regardless of the pot.. there's still a drainage hole maybe not a good one but I grew a white widow just this last grow over a foot in a smaller then usual solo cup that I forgot to punch holes in at all an it did fine so
