Keep making tweaks to grow box after each grow. Next up, improve ventilation. I have a small grow box (2X2X5) that works great for my personal grows. Because of need for stealth (spousal unit is paranoid), I am using one 85 cfm in-line duct fan, mounted inside an insulated box, along with one 40 cfm computer fan at exhaust opening and another 40 cfm computer fan at intake manifold. When plants are seedlings I have to block air flow at plant because it is too strong on tender seedings. Once in flower I connect carbon filter but worry about reduced air flow through filter (some say as much as 50%). Any suggestions for super quite exhaust fans?

Can fan is one of the originals. They make some nice quiet fans but you're going to pay for them and they're probably overkill for your setup. Vortex also makes a "whisper" fan. If you go that route you'll want a variable speed controller. Just keep in mind you can damage inline duct fans by running them at too low of a voltage. They can also stall. Try to keep it at 1/4 at least....
Hope this answers your question.

Thanks Royal. I looked at both fans you mentioned when I built box, but being the cheap SOB that I am, went with my current setup. Also not able to figure how loud the listed db's are to actual sound. Stealth is a must...DIY grow space 2.5' X 3.5' X 6.5'

I have approx same tent size and equipment and a system that addresses the concerns with no additional expense.
Can you post a pic of your setup?
I'm on may way out the door- but will take photos and description of mine sometime later today-It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

All equipment is outside of tent- If I need the tent temp warmer or less airflow (seedlings, etc)- I pull the vent fan from the window and place in scrubber which muffles fan noise, too. There are furniture pads on the bottom of the scrubber.
If I need it cooler or more airflow- inline fan stays in window and open/adjust lower tent windows- to maintain negative pressure (odor).
Decibels - 52 (+/- 1.5) <-- less than a "sleep machine" with no echo/vibration as the inline fan is cushioned by the styrofoam window opening .
Currently lights off from 8pm to 8am- but will rethink this as winter approaches and temps drop. Anytime the outisde temps are going to be excessive (either direction)- simply place in carbon scrubber, as the room that contains the tent is in controlled room temperature. at anytime the fan/filter could alternately be relocated inside the tent and direct vent out the top opening.
