    HELP! Perfecting the flush/harvest

I’m coming to the end of my 4th grow. And I’d like to optimize the flush/harvest process. I’m planning to flush with plain non-ph adjusted water. So here is the point of discussion. Do I flush when the indicators, trichrome and pistils have changed color to fully ready? Or try to time it so the time is right at the end of the flush?

I’d like to hear how more experienced growers handle this process.

A good rule of thumb I hear from just about everyone is, 1 week before harvest atleast of water only. Some go 2 weeks.

So I would say start the flush at almost 100% milky that will give you a week or more of flush.

I try to slowly cut down nutes instead of just from a full schedule, to nothing. Just like as you step down nitrogen through flower, I do the same with all of my flower nutes. Except my sweeteners. As I cut down the p-k I increase my sugaree from 5ml to 15ml in 2ml steps. It takes a while to actually see and realize whats happening in the different stages in flower. There is a lot of information on the topic. With all that said, I try to coast into just using my sweeteners and my salt wash as they are ready to chop.

I’m about to start the flush on my current grow now so I’ll give you an idea of what stage the plants are in now and how long my process goes.

I have about 80% cloudy trich’s with mostly pale green fan leaves. I am in DWC and will start flushing the roots tomorrow with FloraKleen until I can maintain a ppm of 120 or lower for 24hrs, my tap is 120 ppm so that is my target. This will require that I change the reservoir at least once in the next 7 days but more likely twice. I will then give them tap water treated with hydroguard only for as long as it takes (generally 5-10 days) to see roughly 5% Amber trich’s and yellowed fan leaves. At this point I harvest.
Failure is an opportunity for improvement!!

Hey Obi-Wan, interesting that you continue to use Hydroguard. I think I will give your method a try.

Good of luck with your upcoming harvest. I’m very excited about mine. My girl is loaded with the biggest buds I’ve produced yet.

My reasoning with the hydroguard is that I need to keep the root system healthy enough to continue water uptake until I’m ready to harvest. Root rot can set in fast, so in the end it’s a cheap insurance policy.

Agreed. Looks like sound reasoning to me.

In 3 - 4 weeks I’ll post the yield from this grow.

          Grow well. Be well.
