    Which Light Please Help

    Hello family! I am torn between the Mars Hydro 400w and the Mars Hydro 700w.

    I have a 2x2x5 and plan on topping. I have an inline fan rated at 90cfm and a carbon filter.

    I plan on only doing one plant in a 5 gallon or maybe 7 gallon pot.

    The more I research the more confused and torn I get in which one to get. PLEASE HELP!!!

        The 400w will probably be better because of issues with vertical clearance. It will be plenty for one plant.

          You definitely don't have enough height for the 700 and may run into height issues with the 400W too

          400W
          Height above plants: Germination: 24~30inch; Vegetative:18~24inch;
          Flowering :12~18inch.
          the light is 3 inches thick and needs to be hung by wires which take up vertical space also.
          Basically you've already lost two foot of space in your tent taken up by the light and the distance the light must be from the plants. If you then have a 1 foot tall pot your maximum plant height will be about 2 foot

            I have the height issue under control I wont be hanging from the wires but directly from the knobs with adjustable hanging wires it eliminates 4-5 inches.

            I will be topping and only growing compact strains and as a last resort LST.

            However, when it comes to wattage is what I am stuck on. Can you help in that regard?

              When researching these lights do you recall the footprint of each light?

              I like to suggest buying the biggest light one can afford. But given the size 2x2, and your 2 choices I would go with the 400. Good luck

              I top an pick compact plants too, but some of them don't turn out to be compact, they got a mind of their own, LEDs are powerful.

            Another vote for the MarsHydro 400w , it's the perfect size for 2.5x2.5 coverage area and any more would be wasted- plus heat issues- if you go larger your fan will not handle it well.
            It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!
