What kind of time for that root growth? I use a simple WaterFarm with clay balls. With a clone, I usually get roots into the solution in 5-7 days. No DWC or any change in the WaterFarm. I credit the strains my clone friend grows.

      #18
Damn Lucky, you are my hero, going from soil straight to DWC! I am a simple man with simple pleasures so I have only grown in soil because DWC seems too labor intensive for me but Tika has been urging me to take baby steps and try coco! 😁

Too much brother! Thanks! Been pro gardener for 25 years, buddy from the collective decided I had to try dwc so he dropped the whole set up clone included! No choice!😂😂 it’s actually a lot less daily work than soil. Still getting my brain around this water tank business...

Agreed-once i have the basics covered-lighting, temps and system volume; it's really simple maintenance topping off the rez and adjusting pH if needed.

I did my first grow in a 5 gallon bucket. Still can't figure out how I managed to do absolutely everything wrong. So I spent 6 months working hard and screwing up.
Then I switched to hydro. Hope to start my 4th grow soon as I just harvested 1/31.
I would never change back to soil. Hydro is fast (90-110 days, set up with clones to harvest), fun like a science project and I feel problems are easier to identify and correct. And just follow directions. No creativity required. Try changing soil when you're weeks into flower and everything goes sideways.

Glad all of you wanna jump on this thread! The input is awesome.
The root growth is ridiculously small compared to the amount of time she’s been at it. The early rot slowed mine down, broken ph pen early on resulted in messed up ph too, but I won’t be set up to flip her for a while so there’s no rush. I topped mine 3 times so far,

How were you able to analyze the ratio of cbd to thc in the different plants? Thanks

She’s been grown and tested a few times within the collective and 3 phenos are known to show up, Size and shape of leaves suggested mine was the 10%thc/10%cbd version

I see. In the past I've always smoked for recreational reasons but fast forward to today and I have 2 herniated discs in my back. I'm interested in trying some high cbd strains to see if it would help but I do love thc lol. I will certainly be looking for something with a 1:1 ratio.

Your plant sounds perfect for a cbd strain. Perfect for me anyway since I like thc as well. The seed bank I'm looking at only has 7% levels with their 1:1 offering but they're getting new stuff soon supposedly. Hopefully something like yours or higher even.

I guess I could always just get the highest cbd strain available regardless of thc content and then get a thc strain as well and just mix them when I smoke lol.

Is it too personal to ask if you use cbd for pain management? Sometimes my back pain is severe. It bothers me daily but it's oftentimes manageable. Until a flare up hits and it isn't...

Yeah man I’m beat up, arthritis, tendinitis, the back, knees, the nuggen too lately... the only straight cbd that worked for me was sour tsunami, was grown 21%cbd and .6%thc. It’s a clone only strain so it’s really hard to come by. But harlequin is a good one too like Candida cd1. My tolerance is quite high now (and I’m self employed!) so I can deal with a lil thc thru the day! But yeah mix away, make your own meds!

@Donny062 I just grew 3 Candidas and a Jack Herer. the tow mixed together, for me 1:10 Jack to Candida roughly is a great medicine. Energetic, happy and pain relieving. I recommend

Thanks Joe! Get a ph pen if you can, hydro requires a bit more accuracy I found out. Spend $60-80, it’s worth it. Blue lab is a great one.

Off topic, lucky have you tried the paragon coco it’s made outside of canby. Guy at the grow shop I go to is pushing it pretty hard. 50/50 perlite mix. Curious if you’ve tried it. Thx. Or heard anything about it.

Oh good. That shit is pretty spendy. Actually, not so bad since it's a big jug, but my pint of Hydroguard has lasted me over a year.

True but it’s used twice only during a plant’s life cycle at 15ml/gallon following emerald harvest feeding chart. Lasts a while... it’s different than hydroguard though, doesn’t have the anti rotting stuff, straight up root boost only! I swear by it! I’m sure other brands have equivalent products...

Canna, rhizotonic....also pricey but lasts. Works great as well

Nothing new here to report. But... pouring dark colored nutes straight on the roots... it will stain them and freak the hell out of ya! It’s not root rot! She’s drinking a quart+ a day, damn ph fluctuations!, spikes up everyday... anyways she’s alive and growing slowly...

I know the feeling......Canna boost is really dark and stains the roots. The more you use, the darker they get. I check them every day even though I know they're probably good.

Thanks man, yeah most of the stain is already hidden by new growth, had to top her res a 2nd time yesterday, getting close to a gallon a day intake!

          #30
Photo update. She’s drinking 3/4 to 1 gallon everyday, roots starting to look like ropes, that ph, it’s the key here more than in soil. Finally understood and became one with it.
Waiting to kick the veggie starters outside (come on weather!) to flip miss Candida. The flower room is still under auto domination and stays on 24/0.
I’ll need to grow a couple autos in dwc before switching over. But not having to worry about bugs living in my dirt is very motivating.
