So, I am relatively new to growing. And I have a friend who has done these two methods of “helping” his plant(s) get light. The first light he used was Christmas with a fan and an actual grow light. (I may be wrong but I feel like that would be too hot). Then the second time he had a fan again but put a grow light with an LED nightlight (a powerful children’s one). I’m just not quite sure how either of those are working for him. But he SWEARS by it. Any thoughts because this is driving my insane for some reason.

Little Confused as to what you mean by Christmas with a fan. And had a fan again...?
A nightlight by no means will ever grow a plant. Guaranteed. He could be using his as accent lighting but it's probably really not helping much.
to me it seems like he is just using these for extra light. If you mean he's growing with Christmas lights and or a night light only. I doubt he's growing much.
Even's extra lighting both those options are very minimum to helpLast edited by UrbZ; 01-11-2018, 07:56 PM.

Okay so I’m getting back. He has a 24 watt fluorescent light above the plant. Then on the other side (roughly 3 feet away) on the wall are the Christmas lights. Then he has a fan (one of the flat fans) blowing upwards.
When he was using the nightlight he got a red and purple one and put it on the wall on the other side. Then added the same light above and put the fan on medium.

I'm sorry, but I'm having a seriously hard time believing x-mas lights or a children's LED nightlight (no matter how "powerful" it is) can in any way grow or even "help" grow a weed plant. I believe the plants were getting their actual light from the other grow lights your friend was using. But x-mas lights or a nightlight to grow or help the growth? Umm sorry, nope.
