    Wattage....

This is my first indoor grow. I started with six plants from bag seeds. Five of the six turned out male. The last one is definitely female. I'm in the second week of flower. Should I lower the power on my ballast? Or keep it at 1000 watts. Also, I keep getting different answers on the distance from my canopy, some words there would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.

Im on my first grow as well, 33 days into flower. So take what I say lightly

I personally wouldn't lower the wattage on my ballast. During flower is when you want the most light to fatten up your buds and give you better yields.

Also have you read about the "back of the hand" test??? put your hand right over your canopy and hold it there for 30sec, if it starts to burn then the light is too close to your canopy. Other than that I'd say to just go with the flow on that one. If you notice a lot of space between your bud sites then lower the light, if you notice signs of light burn, raise it.

You need more light during flower. Some models even have super lumen features to intensify it even more. Stick with the full thousand. You can also get pretty much as close as possible without burning as you can. A lot of people will run with only 8 to 10 inches above canopy with good circulation during flower.

You don't want a thousand watt mh-hps light any closer than 16 inches unless you got co2. If you plant looks like she might be a nice one, I'd keep it at a 1000watts, if she is not going to be a nice one I'd cut the light bill in half if she was mine.

Merry Christmas Max with a HPS you really need to use a Lux meter My hps is about 12 to 14 inches away from plants,The important thing is that they are between 60 and 85 K Lux this gives them as much light as they can use ,anything over 85,000 lux is a waste . I read Nebulas tutorial on light pretty informative
new grow room built summer of 2017 ,argo max tent for veging ,big kahuna reflector, 1000hps with added leds for the full spectrum . 15th indoor grow ,5 years outside gorilla grows(stealth is the key),veg under t5s growing autos under 300w leds

Your light is on a mover too, ain't it Ojh ?that means it can be a little closer.
Nebula says 16 inches in normal conditions, is close enough, those are powerful lights 1000watts.

Thanks for the info guys. I have the light at 18inches above the canopy. I just felt weird burning 1000 watts for a nine square foot scrog.

Max I would still invest in a lux meter .18 inches is safe but is it giving the max light that your plants can use, I would hate to pay for a 100 watt hps and only use a portion of the light it give off just me
