as the subject says what temp should I start thinking of running a space heater to heat my tent. I’m dipping to 64 now about an 11-13 degree difference from peak. Tent has never gotten above 77. It’s going to hit lows in the upper 20s later this week and not sure where my unfinished portion of the basement will do. And I’m currently dangling my hygrometer from my Light so it sits canopy level, where should you measure the temp in your room as it makes a difference st least for me during lights on. Thanks

Locrian do you have an exhaust fan for your light if so try turning it off before light go out this will warm room up for the night. I also grow in the cellar and its unheated it will get down into sixties and if its really cold fifties. I tried one of those oil filled radiators it worked but doubled my electric bill. After that I said f it and left it alone and its been fine since the worst that happens is they get purple lolnew grow room built summer of 2017 ,argo max tent for veging ,big kahuna reflector, 1000hps with added leds for the full spectrum . 15th indoor grow ,5 years outside gorilla grows(stealth is the key),veg under t5s growing autos under 300w leds

I use a high quality ceramic heater in a 2 x 4 x 5 tent. Ceramic is a safer unit that doesn’t use exposed resistance heating coil which I can see as being a dangerous fire hazard left alone. Mine wasn’t cheap, it has built in thermo protection and tip over protection. I use the low setting which is 800 W, a fan in the unit pushes the warm air out. I make sure to place it in a position 2 to 3 feet away from anything in front of it. Never is hot and actually the plastic body stays cool to the touch. Not recommending anything, just what I do.2 x 4 x 5 grow tent

I do not have any direct experience with low temperatures. I imagine if it is too cold for too long it will promote root rot. If I were in that position, I would start running a heater to maintain 60 degrees and higher. I am sure the plant would be able to survive in cooler temperatures but I would not want to take the risk if it is preventable. I would also take the temperature below canopy closer to the grow medium as the canopy is likely to be warmer. This was all hypothetical for me but I think that is what I would do.

Pic from turning fan off. I had the exhaust fan turn off 10 mins before lights out. 600w hps apparently heats the tent up fast. And air exchange matters. 😀1 Photo48”x48”x80” flower/main tent
