One thing I really love is how some growers like you are putting information about their grows in their signature! I think that's one of the best indicators on grower skill! If someone has harvested 3 DWC grows, that's a lot more relevant to someone growing in DWC than someone who's an expert in soil, and vice versa.

OK..that done however:
I think that signature grow data would be more effective under the avitar and then put the Join Date , posts, Thumb color in the signature space.
Another note: I would like to know who "liked" my post(s). Is that available and I cant find it or just a PITA tor tech?
Again thanks kingfish for the clue!!Indoor- Coco coir & Perlite - 5 gal Smart pots

i commented on this thread on something green said above about how to represent experience. i'm putting it here cuz it's an important consideration andi don't want it buried down in the comments. thanks.
"i agree w/green on this, 100%. and i have a real life reason. i'm a newbie yet to grow and i was asking a question and someone gave a very long, very detailed answer, lots of acronyms....
a day later i was reading a different thread and he's just starting his first grow. *rubbing chin* and i'm not trying to be a dick just trying to offer helpful suggestions on how to keep the forum the spectacularly awesome place that it is.""i try to play the ball not the opponent."--Roger Federer

Would it be possible to implement a forum reputation system? A rep system gives users (regardless if they're a member or not) an insight into the quality of contributions made by a member without ever knowing anything about that member previously so the reader can see who might actually know what they're talking about rather than being pointed in the wrong direction for one reason or another by someone who was either misinformed or doesn't have a clue about what they're typing about.
Our title system is currently pointless and based on the number of posts a member has made which indicates nothing about their knowledge, or lack of.Completed auto grows 3

Heh, I wasn't even thinking about it like that. I like it for a selfish reason, it makes dealing with my issues easier because it saves me from having to look for threads that may have fallen off the front page.
But yea, it shouldn't feel like that I agree

the forum can decide by likes if you post and info is good or relevant .then the member who asked the question can click likes so if a member gets a certain number of likes then some options are made available to them
-
I don't see many people using the like button though, that's sad. Trying to use it more myself, instead of adding a reply (mainly if someone has already said everything I could, and I agree with him/her.). That's a good way of determining if one answer seem correct, for newcomers I mean.

Over the last 15 years I've depended on a number of Forums to help me do very technical things. CAD modeling, computer rendering, four axis milling (The three dimensions X, Y, Z + A rotary) and building/calibrating/using 3D printers. Members are worldwide in all, work alone and genuinely depend on the expertise of strangers to function at a professional and/or artistic level. These Forums use a quality of input metric to "title" members. Becoming a Master or Wizard can take years. Photos are also a significant element to achieve those levels.
There are folks in Ukraine, Scotland, Greece, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Ecuador, Columbia. Brazil, India and US that rock those forums. When one of those guys posts a tip,, I read it even if its unrelated to my needs. Their insights and experience is just so deep.
Its very helpful. A bit of work for somebody obviously, but really does cut down on confusion for new members. And fortunately helps members filter the occasional attention seeker or troll. No trolls here that I've seen, but I have seen some advice that is not up to the very high standard that GWE offers.
GWE rocks. I am most appreciative.

Can newbies be called "composters"
And raise the post count for increases. There is no way I should have the title green thumb by post count.
Honestly tho I don't pay attention to the titles, just those who post often of their grows or has a good knowledge band give advice.
Maybe a contributor tag for those that are consistently helpful and knowledgeable on the forums.Last edited by POKEDSMOT; 06-23-2017, 05:10 PM.Completed #1: http://forum.growweedeasy.com/forum/...dwc-apocalypse

What do you all think of this?
Once someone has successfully completed a grow with documentation, and link to it in their signature, they can request to get a title that reflects that? That makes it so a new user can easily see that they have successful grows, and then can go and easily check them out via the signature links.
For example, their new title could be something like Proven Grower (check signature) or something like that? That way there's no one deciding who's a good or bad grower, because their results will speak for themselves! If someone hasn't completed a grow, you'll be able to easily tell every time they post.
Does that sound like it could be helpful?

I don't think it will change much. Those who have completed journals and want to show them already do in their signature. I think the best way to "decide" could be instead of a "like" button, a "helpful" button when they post a useful tip advice or just good info... and just showing that counter besides post count?? I dunno it's the best I can come up with

At the end of the day we are trying to figure out who to take advice from not ranking growers. Some people may not have much experience but understands the sciences behind the processes. For example I've seen dano here help a lot of people with electricity issues (me included) and it's not necessarily experience related
