do I have to thoroughly water and soak my growing medium before I use if I am going to use it to germinate my seed in it ( I am using soil) and then wait for it to be moist but not soaking for me to use it to germinate? thanks

Lots of people do it different ways, i don't soak mine an never had problems, but I'm pretty sure some people do soak theirs. Good luck.

All you need to do is keep the seed moist at ALL times. How you choose to do that is up to you.

what I have learned so far:
      environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

James welcome yes you can do it that way but you might have better luck if you used a traditional(haha a traditional way to grow pot)method , I use the paper towel method with great success ,fold up 4 or 5 paper towels soak them ,drain so no standing water,I slide mine (on a plastic cover) on top of my cable box, this gives it warmth and dark once you see the tap root you can carefully put it in soil, keeping the soil at the right moister level might be difficult but it can be done and alot do do it that way good luck however you go

I have been doing this for over a year-
seeds are usually above ground in 3-4 days- with the last two grows- poking through in 48hrs!
