I really like the idea of planting in a clear cup, and putting it inside a colored one. You'll know exactly when those roots need to be transplanted.

Im sorry to say that the contest has been canceled. Due to my competitors plant is not doing well and we want to start over with a different strain.
I will be posting the new thread tomorrow. Thanks for your interest and taking part in this project..A man believes what a man desires to be true.

Ok, so the contest is off but im going to keep growing the plant i started for this. It looks goo and a want as i think a few others do,, see where it goes and how it turns out in the end. So if you're interested in this grow keep checking back and ill post pics and comments as it grows.
This plant is a photo girl not and auto so at some point in time im going to have to put her into flower, i might just go with the original dater of 30 days of veg,, because i don't think the roots in the cup will support anything longer than that, and still produce flowers. I might be wrong about that, and i will look at the plant at the time and determine what to do. Here she is today at 17 days from seed. And she has till the 20th. To veg.2 PhotosA man believes what a man desires to be true.

Awww, I'm so sorry to disappoint you, but my mind is made up,,,besides I already have too many plants to take care of as it is.and no room at the inn. I usually only grow one or two plants at a time because i dont have the need for weed but i ran out and my patients are in need right now, so i have to catch up with the need of my friends. After this grow i can cut back to one plant a month to harvest.

I did one like that once, I got 0.75 oz dried bud from it I definitely wouldn't recommend it for efficiency or yields, but it definitely was fun! Here's a video of the unveiling of the roots! This was one of my first few grows and I remember feeling so proud!
I added perlite to the bottom 20% of the cup because I mistakenly thought it might add extra "drainage" but overall I think it just reduced the amount of root space even more because the roots didn't grow in it at all! If I ever did this again, I would use less perlite, more coco, and I'd make sure everything was thoroughly mixed together. The solo cup definitely keeps a plant much smaller than it would be if the roots were allowed to spread out, so your yields will be far lower than they could be in the same time and space. But I think the novelty of a tiny plant is part of why it's fun to do a solo cup grow, especially if you have a spare seed and some extra space on the edge of a grow tent!

As i have promised here is an update of how she is doing plus im going to include another plant to the grow that i have not talked about because she was not part of the challenge. She is an auto that i started at the same time as the contest girl and she is also doing well at this time.
i will keep her on 24/0 light sced. The entire grow.
Here's a pic of them today. The auto is on the left ( in the pic) and the photoperiod is on the right.2 PhotosA man believes what a man desires to be true.

Awesome..I'm so doing this on next grow...
Are you keeping them in cup forever?....I hope so
Let's do a challenge I will start when I am ready...we will use a cup a bit bigger tho...like a 20 oz. Winner is decided on ...the most colas...every bud will be cut apart at each node to reveal each little nugget...the most wins....
All are welcome to join this contest....It can be an ongoing contest everyone reports in as grow goes and then final haul...
No egos here just fun and knowledge and a cool thread to keep going.....
Maybe we should start a new thread for this as well
Maybe call it GWE CUP CHALLENGE ALL WELCOME...
I don't really care what size cup so if you want to use one of those plants cool we can use a solo cup ....I just wanted more bud...lol
Photo only tho...
What do you think....would you mind starting a new thread?
I hope you accept...
Ps...you can enter as many plants as you want..whenever you want to
No vegging...sprout right into flower
.....I'm already excited...lolLast edited by Green75; 11-08-2016, 12:04 PM.
