94° today, which my plants delight in, but 100°+ is getting dangerous.
What I've done is paint the 20" plastic tub I'm using for one plant a flat white. That hugely lowers the absorbed heat from the sun-- which will cook the roots and kill the plant if not controlled somehow (it also blocks the UV somewhat, which extends the life of the plastic container). Those black plastic nursery pots get so hot they'll burn your hand if you touch them, and all that heat transfers out into the water in the pot. White pots aren't much over ambient temperature. The three other plants are in smaller pots are still of green plastic until I transplant them, so I think I'm going to surround these darker pots with cardboard or something to keep them shaded.
What I'm doing is making sure the plants are watered and will mist and spray the plants themselves during the heat of the day. Every other plant likes this, so I assume marijuana does too.
Fortunately, the nights are around 55°-62°, so this will help some.
Any other thoughts on how I might help my plants survive this heatwave?
