    weed butter question

I am making the 'best weed butter recipe' from the site and not quite clear on the amount of weed.
The recipe says 1 oz of bud or 3 oz of trim to 1 lb of butter.
I am using trim, but not sure if it's supposed to be 3oz fresh or 3oz dry?
Please help I don't want to make it crazy strong.

Hmmmm, it probably means fresh, like the trimming right after you harvest your buds. Since you do a slow low heat in the oven first, that is what activates the cannabinoids. Just use the butter sparingly the first time until you get a feel for its strength. A quick google search may clear that question up for you......or in the morning someone else will come along with a more precise answer.

I can't wait to make butter. The only problem with using trim or bud is that it almost seems like a waste. Can you are hash from the trim and add the hash straight to the recipe instead?

Pankace, I think someone asks that question before and never got a straight answer. Since heat is also applied during the cooking process, you have to simmer it for a long time, I would think so. But again, I'm not sure. I guess you can spread hash out on a baking pan and heat in oven just like trim. Several on site have made butter, so hopefully some knowledgeable answers will be coming. Butter is the one thing hubby is really looking forward to also. He eats a lot of toast. Its easy on his delicate digestion system.

Check out High Times butter video on YouTube for some good ideas also. My opinion is dry weight for the 1oz or 3oz
          completed 7 grows
what I have learned so far:
          environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

I use dry trim/bud. mostly bud.
remember the longer slow cook will give you the best butter.

It would be 3 ounces dry weight. It's also a good idea to decarboxylate the trim, allow to cool, before making the butter.
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

Also don't expect that more weed makes it stronger. Proper decarbing as well as quality as well as process of making storing and cooking the end product all play a factor in results

Which gives more bang for the buck, butter or tincture? How long will butter keep?

2 different processes..edibles and sublingual are different forms of embibing. Personally I don't care for edibles although I make them..take to long to come on and no turning back. Tinctures come on much sooner..if one goes slow one can tritrate with control

Its all dependent on what you want to do. I have butter in the freezer. I can take some out and make toast, I can make cookies tonight. Mashed potatoes with butter? Just dose away! I cant say much on tinctures but I know that I will be getting some everclear and doing a batch one day after I have trim and materials.

I just harvested yesterday and want to use the trim for something. The tincture recipe Tika mentions seems really easy. I use pot for recreation, my fountain of youth!

Tincture making is so easy. Besides the Tika recipe, there are other methods out there, including this one: http://www.weedist.com/2013/01/full-...oil-made-easy/
Some are ready in no time, and supposedly make potent extracts. Go for it! 🌻

well.. some say 3oz dry and some say 3 oz wet so I put 4.5oz wet to 1lb butter.
I will be baking with it on the weekend and we'll see what my mom says about it

My Son swears by putting butter in Rice Crispy Treats. Says you don't have to worry about too much heat like baking cookies or brownies.
