Xtra hight THC strains

I'm not "selling" this, just adding to the thoughts here. https://bigsurscientific.com/ is obviously in California. When the owner was here on a sales tour he tested my bag weed. One topped at 24% which shocked me since the one that tested at about 15% had a bigger and longer lasting effect. The machine he had with him was the 2000 (the 3k wasn't invented yet). Really quite a nice gadget but the asking price was way beyond my interests. Funny, I've known the owner/inventor all his life and no family discount! Double funny, he has the PHD and the business and doesn't partake. Me? Well look where I'm posting!!!
 
Rwise A lab takes a measured amount of very very dry flower that is pulverized. Then use a carrier agent, like alcohol, to extract terpenes. The sample is put in a gas chromatography machine to read the specifics of the terps. Then some basic math is used to determine %/weight.
It isn’t about “standards” of varying techniques used that are uncontrolled like the Wild West, but more about if the lab follows “standard” lab protocols. Gas chromatography is well defined in how samples need to be prepared and measured.
In reality, every lab should get the exact same results if provided the exact same sample.
 
There was a company at the cannabis show that had developed a small briefcase sized testing machine. As you mentioned, very expensive to buy, but the company had plans on providing rental service of their equipment. I don’t remember the full details for rental cost, but I do remember thinking it was way too expensive for an average home grower to rent. Now, somebody with hundreds of plants would get good use for the cost, just not a dude like me with a 4x4 tent. 🤣
 
"Mint Green" 30.3%, (from local dispensary) I never heard of it (whats new), are they just making up names so we cant find it?
 
Samples taken to labs from local grows are showing different results is why I would say no standards. Equipment should be calibrated (even my VOM was calibrated and certified) and I dont think it's happening, I could be wrong and just operator error,,, we'll grow up!
 
lol, I suppose I should grab a clone of the face melting variety while I can and grow one out and test it.
be fun to see if the reports are true.
 
Marketing was certainly effective on me - I HAD to have some "Zombie Death Fuck", it just sounded cool.
 
What can all y'all tell me about Pacific seed bank, Willits Family Farm, Coastal Genetics, and Norcal Farms?
I am looking at Star Killer 70/30 (~29%), Afgoo 80/20 (28%), Amhurst Diesel 20/80 (26%), and an old school Panama Red 0/100 (~).
Is there any of those that would throw a red flag?

Marketing is doing well in this industry, just go to the grow shop and look at the shelves!
 
The inconsistency you are seeing is due to the product variation. The process the lab uses is standard.
 
I'm with you. If I'm spending that much on genetics, then the breeders need to have put the work into stabilizing the strain before beta testing it on us growers! I don't have time to waste growing rogue ass plants because the released strains early with creative names.
