Wood in the tent?

I've noticed that nothing made for a grow tent is ever made of wood. Is there a reason for this or would it be ok if I used clothespins for a couple dif applications?
 
Wood and water don’t do well together. Wood is porous and can house bacteria like an incubator. Think of your garden like a food processing facility.
 
Ahh yeah. Dammit. To the dollar store for plastic clips lol. Maybe the wife can use the clothespins for her crafts lol
 
wooden close pins are fine for pinning stuff up. It's not like it's able to soak in water for a week, than slowly dry for a week, than soak for a week, etc. Takes serious moisture and water to make wood mold or rot.
 
I was gonna use them to pin the yarn holding my manifolds to the pots & to extend & attach some light strips to my big light to supplement it for flowering.
 
I do- & they were my 1st choice but the ones I have are too small. I want to have the strips about 3inches from the Mars so that they both overlap & extend the Mars footprint.
 
Yeah.... & my tents ARE like a desert although humidity will be going up when I finish the swamp cooler that Tersky was kind enough to share a link to awhile back. But certainly not enough to warp wood... hmmm....

Idk.... safe is ways better'n sorry unless alcohol or engines are concerned so I think I'll go plastic or metal.
 
A grow room is literally the exact opposite conditions for mold to grow. You are actively setting up an environment to grow plants, with fresh air cycling, and a relatively stable climate. Mold and rot happens when left alone, in damp wet stale conditions, under dark corners and behind cold things. Takes a certain kind of special to develop a mold problem in a grow tent, unless bringing in obviously visually healthy mold, spreading it around, spilling water on the floor, killing the fans, and leave it for a few days or weeks.
 
Howdy JDU, I use wood (pine boards) for shelving (air circulation fans, air pumps, etc.) for years without any problems. My light support is a 2X4 attached to the walls (used to be a closet) with shelving brackets and wood screws. I do not think that the wood could be a problem, unless it is always wet.

I have 2x4 & 4x4 blocks in my tent for risers and those plastic black one also. I don't like the yo yo system for some reason? I just an " senior weight lifter " :joy: I keep picking them up moving them around.
