Why Grow Autos?

I have been researching autos, and I am wondering why people choose to grow them. Is it because they are fast? Mostly I have read that they aren't as potent as photoperiod plants, and I don't find any autos that have won cups, so can I please get some feedback on this topic? I would like to try growing them, so I'd like to know which are the best strains, and why.

Initially, I use autos to fill any open spaces in ANY tent , as autos will grow without regard to the light schedule- so any harvest was a bonus.

Currently, I am dialing in a perpetual grow with auto's, which will allow a 2 plant harvest every 3 weeks or so for about 15 grows a year. Since you can run them from 12/12 to 24/0 you can use this flexibility to control environment with no additional energy expense for heat/AC.

And then there is the window sill grow, lol: http://forum.growweedeasy.com/forum...icious-af-window-sill-grow-in-new-england-usa

In my opinion. The reason you haven't seen any autoflowering win a cup is because breeders sacrifice a lot of traits in order to suppress photoperiod genes to be able to flower besides having to make hermaphrodite females and then stabilize them as much as they can not to have hermaphrodite offspring.

It looks like more and more auto strain s everyday the potency is going up as well! I've done 4 to date and it's pretty good stuff!

For me first because they are easy and I like easy. 2nd, I think you really should check in to the "Potent" factor. It is not a quick and easy procedure because of all the different types, strains, whatever you want to call it. I looked at a few auto and feminised seeds strains that I could find - at least with the same name and the specs on the seeds were the same as far as thc ranges. But you should probably look at that when you decide to buy of course do we believe in everything we read?

Do more research...autos have come a long way...potency on some being greater than photos...so many of them in the high teens up to mid twenty percent thc....I believe they are the future of cannabis...hope so anyways...

So much less time involved...

Speed, ease of not having to control light leaks, and the compact size makes them very practical for small grows like mine. For me autos are the easiest way to have a small grow, but still have a bunch of different strains, and consequently a bunch of different weed : )

All good reasons for going with auto's. Primary for me is time to harvest. I have on auto that is nearly ready to harvest, in less than 70 days. My photo was in veg longer than that.

I'm going to start running autos mostly because of time. The last plant I harvested from seed took almost 5 months, and the last plant from clone was 4 months. Lots of autos go 3 months or less. Plus if I need to bomb the room I don't have a cloner or mother plants to move around or worry about retaining pests from grow to grow. I run my autos, and once harvested I can clean out the room and start again fresh :)

Now that I know autos can take the cold. I plan to grow them for an early harvest because the weather for photo harvest is terrible. Early June weather is just fine for harvest.

Appreciate it, Green! I saw this site but I didn't realize it's part of THE Herbie's!! I will pick up some of these.

Autos I'd Like to Grow and Smoke:

Dutch Passion Auto Euphoria Fem (top choice)
DP Auto White Widow Fem
Green House Super Critical Fem
Fast Buds Gorilla Glue Fem
Delicious Critical Jack Herer Fem
Bomb THC Bomb Fem

Any preferences/suggestions???

I don't think you could go wrong with any of those, lots of good genetics there :) I haven't narrowed the list down far enough yet but I am excited to try PolarLight#3 from Dutch Passion, description says it's a strong sativa with trippy effects, right up my alley. Cinderella Jack from the same breeder is at the top of the list too, very strong and THC over 20%. I want to try some Dinafem strains as well but they all sound so good, tough to choose! Definitely part of the fun of it, I love the research involved :)
