Hi Andy, dry weight is the is the true harvest weight. When you go buy a 1/4 or a 1/2 oz. they are dried and cured. If you weigh fresh cut expect to lose 75-80% when dry.
Howdy Andie, I weigh my buds after they are dry enough to be put into the curing jars, in my area (semi arid environment), usually after three or four days drying (hang time).
Good luck with Your grow.
I weigh the buds after they dry and as I am jarring them for the cure.
The reason for this is to reduce the amount of handling to keep the trichomes intact.
I have compared the dried weight, to the post cure amount (after a total of 8 weeks) and there is a very slight reduction of 0-2%.
I'm with Primo--the cured weight is the actual weight. But I always weigh when they're freshly cut, too, just out of curiosity. Cured weight is always about 25% of that.
I weigh mine just before curing. We all weighed our first - and what we thought was huge - colas. Mine was a whopping ounce - 28 grams - I couldn't believe it. Dried it was 9 grams - bummed me right out - but then I thought in the positive and realized I had done well in getting any.
