When should I flip to Flower?

Insight

New member
Greetings all. I'd appreciate your help and opinions...........

I just reached the 8 week mark in the vegetative stage and trying to figure out when to switch to 12/12 flower.
I can grow a plant to a maximum of 34" above the soil line and still be 16" away from a 600 watt HPS light at it's max height.
My girls are about 13-14" tall now. The strains I'm growing all say "Medium" height.

Should I wait a bit longer...17", or flip sooner?
Thanks.

I would say, now by the looks of the tomato cages.
I use cages and try to have all cola's above the ring and flip when they get an inch or two from the top ring.

I usually flip light at 6 weeks but I waited 8 weeks on current grow. I agree with others to flip now. That gives you a little head room to play with if strech is more than anticipated. My first grow stretched into lights... what a pain in the ass that can be! 😂

Quick question....any issues with feeding and then putting into 24 hours of darkness, before the 12/12 flower schedule?

TIA

Make a practice to not feed right before light go out...give time for some humidity to leave...try to feed in their mornings...

People practice the 24 hour dark before the flip...it's not needed tho...people do it to insure the plant flips her switch as well... After two consecutive 12/12 cycles her flip will be switched....so up to you on that...whatever makes you the most comfortable.

@Green75.....Thanks for that info...makes it a bit easier to flip her.....I'll defoliate and feed when I usually do...around 6pm, she'll get about 7 hours of light then I'll reset the timer to 12/12.....
