What's up with wet curing

I just randomly stumbled across an (older) article on drying your buds in water. Submerge the buds. This makes zero sense to me. Was this just a passing fad going around 6 or 7 years ago, or is a real option for curing.

Not that I am about to try it. I just can't even comprehend the science behind this procedure.

I've heard wildly mixed results with most saying it makes your bud have no flavor/odor.

It sure seems that would be the case. Don't hear much about it, so I'm assuming it has no popular following at all.
