What's the diff...

Ok so what's the diff between the cmh that is the screw in to a hps reflector an can run off an hps magnetic ballast an the 315/630 lec ceramics..

I know. It's the low rate pulse to turn on the bulb that the LEC system uses. This is what gives this technology its long life. One of its main attractives

I prefer the form factor of the 315 LEC units because they were created to keep the bulb cool even without needing to use glass to hold the heat in. If you only have one 315, you often can get away without an exhaust system. The lack of glass also gets more light to your plants. One of the coolest things about the LECs is the UV rays they put out, but if you put them in a hood with glass it prevents all those UV rays from reaching your plants. Additionally, magnetic ballasts are not as efficient as digital ballasts, when it comes to how much light is put out for the electricity used. Digital ballasts are newer technology. All that being said, I've never seen a side-by-side so it's hard to say for sure whether one is better than the other!

Yea I'm not, the older cmh bulbs run off of the magnetic hps ballast tho apparently, I didn't know that until recently but apparently that's what they run off of..
