This is why it is important to have the mind set of decriminalization not just legalization. It is a very expensive Market to get into as far is licensing fees, taxes and testing before it hits the shelf and you pay taxes again to take it home.

I see the whole legal Market only being acceptable if you are willing to pay someone for it and it's not right, just the same as any political lie and corporate takeover, this is unacceptable in my eyes.

While legalization is a good stepping stone and has open the door to more specific scientific benefits it is still a means of control for big money profits and is only going to come to a breaking point like rain water collecting what's nexted Air? A food plot? Where is the line of what should be taxed let alone how much.

Free the weed.
 
I ain't got a clue how you figure all that stuff out, but I'm glad somebody does ,on here.
My head hurts when I try to start figuring, not good at tech stuff an math, played hookie, on them school days.
But I do know them Qboards, do it cheap as hell, compared to all them others I've used, and that's what I like.
 
Forgive what WILL sound like prejudice...it’s not. I was 13, got my drivers license at 14 and lived like Gilligan on the island. There were snazzy hotels like The Castaways, The Doral and The Fountainbleu....South Beach was a beach...the fear of getting shot because you pissed off some drug dealer was near zero. And there are areas where it’s a challenge. There are huge houses on the water that were $80,000 in 1970 and are 7-10 million today. And, this guys a doctor, this guys a big shot executive, that neighbor is a drug runner, this neighbor is a drug dealer, the guy across the bay is a drug dealer...boats litter the bottom of biscayne bay that we’re used to run cocaine deals and then sunk to avoid any traces. Jimmy Carter’s mariel boat lift in the 70’s introduced a different lifestyle to south Florida that took decades to normalize. I speak Spanish as it was a necessity after a while. I speak Italian as well but that was drilled into us as kids so it was easy to learn

Currently, Miami is a very cool place with really diverse culture and fun loving people. But like any major city, you’ve got to know your place and watch who you bump into accidentally. In the 60’s it was just us rednecks...Like the movie Porky’s. today Florida rednecks are gone. We would go to Key West like going to McDonalds... even though it was almost 3 hours to get there. There are so many great areas to stop, swim, sun, or fish with no one around. I have family there but have not gone back in the last 10 yrs. Now that I’m older, I don’t see THAT kind of fun anymore. I’m willing to try but would have trouble keeping up. I think CSI: Miami has it pretty close
 
1 kWh = 1,000 watts for one hour. So at a rate of $0.0927 per kWh, a 1000w light would cost just over 9 cents an hour to run. Now as am example, we'll figure up an approximate cost to run a 1000w light at Eliot's house for a grow.

Say you veg at 18/6 for 8 weeks, that would cost $124.98. Call it 10 weeks of flowering at 12/12, that's another $77.87. Add a 200w 8" inline fan and a 50w tower fan for circulation 24/7 and we can add $69.85. That would be about $270 to run a good 1000w photo grow start to finish with a average flowering period for Eliot at his current rate if he doesn't have to use heater (not likely!) A/C, de/humidifier, etc.

I know nobody asked but I got curious and started figuring it up, thought I'd just type it out in case anyone else might have any interest.
 
It is not capitalism when the government is run by a for-profit corporation and controls what you eat, drink, and think. But my view of this subject has nothing to do with helping others grow so I should stop! Hammer time.
 
FunkyButtLovin I can confirm these numbers as they compare to my first time using that Kill-a-Watt meter. You plug all your stuff into the meter and program it for the cost of your local electricity. When the harvest is complete, you’ve got your totals and they are darn close to your calculations. The switch to led allowed me to increase lighting and still come out cheaper
 
We can be satisfied with our limited freedom to grow weed in our own homes, while lots of GWE members could be thrown in prison for doing the same thing, simply because of where they live. Imagine if we could all skip stealth.

So yes, legalization is a good stepping stone. A very important stepping stone that we should support taking as a nation in transition.

And yes, it's still capitalism, even if the government is involved in regulating it and levying taxes. In fact all that licensing and testing is how the government is protecting us from the sellers of shitty, contaminated, poisoned, weed.

Paying the extra tax into the system (let's say $10-15) once a year does more to FREE THE WEED than being indignant that the giant bureaucracy has a hard time doing things efficiently.

The neighbor grows weed, commercial, he payed some guy from CO $750 an hour to help him set up.
 
First, I AGREE FULLY IT BRINGS BIG REVENUE.....Not saying that IT DOESN’T ......it WILL bring in tax revenues that can help lower property tax, increase options for the expenses in communities that we are paying for. My property taxes were $1000 when we moved here and now are over $10000. They say ..we’ll do this, we’ll do that...money will be a benefit from legal weed.

Then, it dies...nothing moves on and these “ fill in the blank” politicians collect another pay check for doing their same old shit. Do you realize when they want to pass a new bill ...it gets done in 6-8 weeks..but legalization, this has gone no where for years....stuck in limbo.
 
I do get your frustration with the corruption and all the other bullshit that drags life down like that. If there weren't so many well connected greedy bastards inserting themselves into the cash streams, many great ideas would be far better.

And yes, as big cities with international crime cultures, Miami would have been one of the most interesting to watch grow out of the quiet little swamp.

I personally grew up in East Los Angeles in the 70s, and now live in rural Southern Oregon in a smaller town that is growing into a small city (we got a Costco about 8 years ago) and I-5 is accelerating the growth in population, diversity, and crime and homelessness.

Sigh...
 
DingusKhan oh man corruption? Bullseye...and the exact same thing has happened where I am as well. When developers started waving bags of cash under the noses of local farmers they said “screw this farm shit, show me the money” why scrape out a living working your ass off when you can take the money, retire in style and enjoy life. Sadly, they did it in droves. They ALL bailed out over a short time and built a ton of developments .... the developers won and took their profits and left the towns to deal with limited schools, limited roadways and more f^#%ing traffic than I ever would thought I would live in. No worries, the schools and roads we’ll fix...jus PAY UP SUCKERS!!! Here’s your new tax bill

They preached how legal weed revenues can really help to lower costs for people yet they sit on their hands instead raising them to vote yes... WTF are they waiting for.

Right. Which justifies my original point for those of us who live in OR VISIT legal states: the only thing that talks is money. Florida's legislature is watching how much money Illinois makes in their first few months of legalization. And every dollar spent legal dispensary is a vote for your state to go legal to.

Remember back in the day when the cops acted like they caught Scarface if they found a joint in your lunch box? And Idaho? Even legalization that is convoluted by greed and government jack assery is better than that.

So bring your ass on out to Oregon, you can stay with me. We'll go get a pre-rolled and celebrate our victorious vote for Florida.
 
DingusKhan you still make the front page of the newspaper and your also on the local news , if you get caught with a little MJane in my State, if you get caught growing on your OWN land, it ain't your land anymore, either, it's the laws.
